When has a romance subplot actually improved a show/comic?

Star Vs.
Clone high with abe originally wanted Cleopatra but then realized he loves Joan more

I thought the show ended before they ever got serious about a relationship?

Even when the show was running, the signs of mutual attraction were there. Theresa didn't really get in the way of the plot too much and thats admirable. The creator of the show did say that it was canon though

Did that actually end up happening? Only got around to watching the first couple of episodes.
>>92401559
Yeah it did happen in the last 2 episodes when Abe finally started noticing Joan

It happens.
Stone Quackers

>tfw we'll never get a new season of Clone High
For some reason, I was fine with the romance drama in The Spectacular Spider-Man. It helps that the characters were genuinely likable, didn't overtake the actual plot, and it wasn't rushed and forced.

Never thought a romance between a middle-aged, married cop and a teenaged girl would be the most engaging and genuinely lovable aspect of a show
take away the romance, and you are left with nothing but a formulaic monster of the week show
