What's wrong with this show?

It isn't that funny. Overall I think it hasn't developed its own character. It seems to be poorly trying to mimic other Adult Swim shows' humor.

Nothing. It's incredibly self aware of how crude and ridiculous it's plots are and feels more like a parody of other Adult Swim shows most of the time.

Of course some autists just WANT to be triggered by something and there's no stopping that.

The godawful artstyle and that it was just plain retarded. It was just edgy humor that failed to be funny and didn't have any likable or interesting characters/settings. Metalocalypse was edgy, but it did have some fun characters and funny moments, so did Superjail. Mr. Pickles had none of that, it was just gore and edginess all throughout.

Why [as] funded the damn thing and gave it more than one season is probably why that channel block has to suck Seth MacFarlane's/FOX's dick to stay alive.

A combination of reasons:

1. It's a lazy premise (what if Lassie was a Lovecraft abomination agent of evil)

2. The family are annoying as fuck except for the grandfather

3. The show ran into the ground the bullshit of Mr Pickles being super evil towards the grandfather, who has repeatedly been shown to be harmless/good. Which makes it hard to give a shit about Pickles as a protagonist.

3. The show waited far far far too long to establish it's lore (the third season is supposed to reveal that the dog's been watching over the family for years and turned the grandfather's wife (presumed dead) into a gimp, presumably to save the mother from her abusive treatment of her).

The core of comedy is subverting expectation. Mr. Pickles twists expectation by making a show about a boy and his dog, then making it overly violent and satanic. The problem is that no creativity went beyond it's premise, simply engaging in shock and gore, so that our expectations become shock and gore. Since it isn't a visual treat, then what we have is a stale show with an unusual premise, that fails to do anything beyond it's premise. This show would work as a three minute YouTube video and nothing more, without a talented writer to keep it fresh.

It's episodes have a limited range of concepts and stories. It's pretty much Rick and Morty but with gore instead of time travel.

Nothings wrong with it, it's doing its own thing which is pretty cool. Not for me, personally, but it's still a good show
