Have a story that spans several generations, with characters growing and changing, and no status Q whatsoever.

Literally just copy DC. Restructure editorial and have a strong plan for the main line.

The problem of course is, as >>92385611 suggested, their big creators are absolute garbage so even with new editorial it would take some time to build up someone to steer the ship. Unless they got Hickman to come back I guess.

Staff Exodus is the only way. These books need new talent, especially for X-Men.

Change writers and editors, stop writing stories with movies in mind (meaning fucking up characters you don't have the movie rights for and promoting shitty characters, simply because you have the movie rights for or just doing SYNERGY) and don't be afraid to be a comic. It's a story about superpowered geeks with costumes, it should have escapism on it.

The sjw isn't that bad. Except when it's bad, it's horrible. There are five-six major poles that spout monumental bullshit that sips all over.

I feel the movie shit is largely due to the fact that many of their creators are too lazy to backread and do proper research. Though it's not all of it since sliding in shit like Sokovia into Hydra Cap is very forced when we know Spencer is a fucking nerd who would use a comic-native location if he had the choice and they SHOULD let up on that.

Editorial and writers are mentioned enough, as are the movie synergy bullcrap. I'll focus on the character roster stuff:

Keeping the Avengers as a major driving force in the MU is good, as is keeping it majorly A-List. IE, Captain America, Iron Man, Thor and making Spider-Man, Hulk, and Dr. Strange stay major members. They're the A-list 'solo' heroes of Marvel that have their own books, heroic archtypes, and thus supporting civilians/heroes/villains devoted to them. Play up their 'solo' corners like you do the individual Justice League members in DC.

Fantastic Four and X-Men also ought be returned to prominence. X-Men should be pretty much Cyke, Jean Grey, Beast, Iceman, the big four All-New X-Men (Wolvie, Storm, Colossus, Nightcrawler), and Shadowcat. A big roster for the X-Men.... but those are the members that never really get lost in shakeups.

Bring back the dead A-Listers. Wolvie, Banner, Jean Grey, etc.

The diversity heroes and most Avengers usually not with solo books should revolve around an A-List Avenger in their books as a Batfamily-type situation. Miles in Spidey's world, Hawkeye with Cap due to his longtime admiration, Captain Falcon stays a Cap with Steve Rogers, a famous actor like Wonder Man hobnobs with Iron Man, etc. That way you get the best of both worlds of giving the A-list their due without losing the diversity heroes but they get a boost getting their mentor or predecessor to play off of.

Bring back the rogues galleries of most of these guys, and no matter how stupid or silly they sound make them work again. Thor should face the Wrecking Crew and Ulik and Absorbing Man, make them feel like a threat to him again. Hulk versus Abomination and Mr. Hyde and Leader. Make these guys feel important.

For all that is holy, related to above: stop hero versus hero. You have entire rosters of bad guys to use and develop. Make the Avengers, X-Men, and FF be clear friends and allies again.

If they could pull their own heads out of their ass long enough to just look at what works and what doesn't work, what sells well and what doesn't, then the changes that need to be made become pretty obvious.

Diversity. But not of characters or whatever. Representation is a much smaller issue than what Marvel really needs to fix.

Diversity, in this case, means two things:

1.) Diversity of content. Less capeshit, more of pretty much everything that is not capeshit.
2.) Diversity of distribution. Comc book shops are not going to last forever with the way physical comics are selling these days, which means Marvel needs new distribution outlets—and suitable approaches to those outlets.

"Manga" has been brought up, and that kinda hits the nail on the head - B&W comics on cheaper paper could be distributed just about everywhere at lower costs. And with the Comics Code no longer running the show, those comics could even go back to newsstands and supermarkets and shit.

Or Marvel could just keep doing whatever the fuck it is doing right now and watch their comics subsidiary go out of business. Whichever.

Kill marvel and DC and let the market sort itself out. Hopefully manga or French comics get big in the absence of cape-shit.

Remember continuity, make titles feel more coherent and for the love of god, use characters from all over instead of the same faces over and over. And stop trying to bring everything down to a joke level.
