I remember really wishing this way back when, especially because he made a big deal about "I'm assuming a new identity because I don't want this to be traced back to Batman" - so he decides to call himself RED ROBIN? Yeah, that's not obviously a Bat-family name at ALL. It would've been in line with the "infiltrating the League of Assassins plot" too.

It doesn't help that I honestly think Red Robin is my least favorite Alex Ross design.

I would say you could use Talon but they killed his New52 counterpart off and I'm thinking unless they bring in a new Crime Syndicate with this Metal storyline it'll be a long while before we see any of them again.

Deathwing isnt Red X like, at least his current iteration is. Black Jumpsuits with red accents are just very common with Nightwing villains. Red X is a their with honor and has a rivaly/hang up with Robin for reasons never explained. Deathwing wants to straight up kill Nightwing and replace him, and is more or less one more mentally ill villain to add to the Batfam's rogues gallery.
