While we don't know what happens in the final episode, as of now Guardian is the only retcon in the entire show. It's pretty obvious over the course of the last decade the ending was changed. Gendy probably likes this new ending more and wouldn't have been able to do it on normal CN, but it still stinks that there will always be that episode that feels really out of place now

Someone posted in a previous thread something that basically said the final season originally would have been a bunch of one-off episodic episodes just like most of the show with maybe a two part finale at most where he fights aku and returns to the past.

This new ending is superior. It's much more detailed and tells a more interesting story. The only casualty of the ending change (and again, by ending I mean all of season 5) was the guardian, who had been originally designed around the first ending.

The Ashi comaining is dumb, but the guardian retain was handled in the worst possible way.
It would have been better to just not reference them.

They can still redeem it by having his portal be the one that reactivates, but I doubt it. Final episode will probably take place back at Aku's base. We already know for storyboard details there's a scene with Jack chained up.
