What if taking over her body and having her fight Jack is the closest thing we're going to get to THAT moment with Casca in Berserk? Everything that she is is taken over by Aku powers, she goes nuts and fights Jack, cuts his arm off, she burns her own powers out, screaming in torment and agony as Aku watches and laughs, and at the end Aku reabsorbs them off her, takes the sword (or destroys it? Or leaves it if he's using Ashi's powers as a recharge after he's been almost defeated again?), and leaves Ashi a mute, personality devoid, mentally disabled shell. Literally, the closest they can get to brain destroying rape in a show on tv? Genndy did want to push what he was allowed to show, right?

Aku laughs as he just fucks off and let's Jack cry over her barely living body. Next season opens with Jack: full beard again, pain and wariness showing threw on his face (maybe a metal arm), on horse back with blank shell Ashi riding behind him. Tied to him so she doesn't fall off. And the whole of season six is about him trying to return Ashi back. Ends with him getting on a boat, no new season confirmed for 10 years.

I didnt dislike it, but the plot is just not in the right place for one episode left. I would have bet my left nut (the good one) that the episode was to begin with them laying post-coitus and awaking to the sound of some Anti-Aku coalition finally tracking them down. Some quick touching re-acquainting, Aku shows up believing Jack to be swordless, some action, and then ending with whatever twist they wanted to go with to be neatly overcome and wrapped up in the finale (which would include the guardian as fucking promised).

Point is, theres a lot of loose ends at this point. And unless theres some sort of long special for the ending episode, I cant imagine it closes on SJ in a tight and fulfilling way. Not that I mind all that much, it is what it is and they apparently really wanted that romance plot. But still...
