Iosef's death bothers me the most because it feels kind of pointless for Varvara to keep him alive for any extended amount of time instead of just killing him as soon as possible, presumably as soon as she got Satan's knife. If she was keeping him alive for a reason, then why did she kill him only then? If she wasn't keeping him alive for a reason, why not kill him earlier?

John Arcudi's decision to leave probably played a hand in the heavy-handedness of the whole deaths and how suddenly things happened. Apparently Mignola told him that he could kill off any characters that he wanted, and, well, Arcudi was the guy who wrote BPRD for so long, according to an interview he didn't want others to write characters that had grown on him for such a long time. He made Iosif, he practically made all of Johann's personality, he was the one who turned Kate from Ms. Exposition to a person, etc etc.

It's rushed, but I can't blame the guy for wanting to leave his creations in 'peace', in a way.

Well obviously Guy Davis was the best, although I really liked Tyler Crook too.

Especially starting with the Lake of Fire arc, he really impressed me.

But the difference between all those guys and Campbell to me is the way it gets colored..or something. It's like too detailed and too fuzzy at the same time.

The shading is very Mignola, but I think he only emulates that part but not Mignola's simplicity, so he's shoving a lot of detail into what amounts to less space after all the blacking

Frankly given the remaining writers (Allie and Roberson) it may have been for the best. Allie's Abe Sapien ended horrifyingly lame and Roberson's just all around shit (see Ghost Moon and Ashley Strode's last appearance).

By that viewpoint, creator owned comics shouldn't exist. It was Mignola that told him to kill off anyone that he wanted to in the first place anyway.
