The Unwritten is a comic book about the power of literature, and at this point in the story, Pauly Bruckner was a human who was thrown into a children's story. He was turned into the character Mr. Bun, and has been trapped in this children's tale for the last 20 years.
At the end of the serieshe goes back to the story, because he sees himself as a rabbit even when he returns to the real world

While I've not had the chance to read this series yet (Haunted Tank is probably my favorite of DC's war titles, with the exception of Enemy Ace), the pages posted on /co/ make it seem like a reaction image goldmine.

The page where doc Samson tells Carol that crazy people tend to carry on conversations with people who aren't there, people who are dead, is just pure fucking gold.
I want legit printed copies of their parodies to put on my shelf.
>>92352888
>>92352977
Goddamnit, Carol's reaction just sells that whole moment. I knew CW2 was going to be shit so I didn't follow it, but seeing this page makes me hope that Samson never showed up after this moment ever again.
I also like the page of Carol remembering her separating Julia from her daughter. It really burns me that parody Carol is so much better than the actual one
>>92340272
Didn't Dick and Tim volunteer for it? Dick wore Bruce down and Tim hounded him for weeks until Bruce said "FINE, here, go train with the world's greatest martial artist for a month while I make you some missile-proof tights."
Jason's the only one he actually pro-actively made into a child soldier, and that's only because he got cocky about his child-rearing skills after Dick (who hates him 1/3rd of the time).
>>92345703

Right after the Hell arc, Tom got stuck in the Fables universe for a few terrible issues, then it got a volume 2 to wrap it up in 12 issues.
The ending made sense because of everything that was set up in the world, but some might see it as a cop out.The Leviathan gave Pullman, Tom, and Wilson Deus Ex Machina's, and Pullman ended the world. Things got very meta, and Wilson wrote most of the story into a book, and trapped Tom, Pullman, and Rauch into an unpublished manuscript. The outside world changed, and everything happened differently because the Tommy Taylor novel was never published (it was seen as being too close to Harry Potter). Wilson never had a son, Lizzie met that literature student in the library instead of the Unwritten Cabal, Savoy won prizes for his work on prison corruption, Pauly gets to be a bunny, and those two kids loved Harry Potter instead of Tommy Taylor. It ends with Wilson, having the memories of the life before, wandering into the dark of the staircase that he built.

Turns out J'onn became chemically addicted to Oreos (sorry, "Chocos") and the wonder twins here stole his entire supply as a prank. J'onn freaked out and turned into a Hulk parody.

Hold up... what is Jason's point here? All three of their lives were BETTER because Batman taught them how to be better humans than most of humanity. He taught them what to eat, how to become stronger, how to fight and defend themselves, how to escape and survive any situation, etc. Sure, Joker killed Jason, but are you telling me you're MORE likely to die living in Gotham if you're one of Batman's trained partners than if you were just a useless, defenseless civilian? I don't buy it. A child trained to be a soldier has a chance of being something, surviving what the world throws at them and could even thrive or make a difference in the world. They should all be grateful. The bars been low for a long, long time and look what shape the world is in. We could use a few "designed human beings."

Just read Blue Beetle Volume 8, that's where most of the pages that tend to get posted are from.
I love the Aphra series. It's got the "How we doing?" "Same as always." "That bad, huh?" feel of the old movies with the heroes just careening from one death trap to the next.

Well the whole thing about Child Soldiers is that they can't technically volunteer. Same as the age of consent, they are to immature (by legal standards at least) to understand the implications of what they are signing up for. I mean signing up to be robin sounds awesome - cool uniform, hang out with legendary superheroes, kick ass gadgets, get to do good, etc. But would Jason have signed up if he knew there was a high risk to his own life? Would Tim have if he had known it would result in the death of his father?
>>92400103
Thing is Dick and Jason had troubled lives they both were prodigies in their own right Dick being uber athletic, fast thinking and close to being the "pinnacle of human perfection" while Jason was pretty much a fountain of potential living in the harshest part of the city, by himself and actually thriving. For those two it was either become Robin and focus their talents for good or end up becoming super villains down the line. Batman knew this, you think it's possible for average people to learn multiple scientific/forensic/criminology subjects, language, tactics, fighting styles and other things all at the same time? Bruce did it because the only two things he had going for him was determination and money and he attained all of that over the course of 10-15 years, Jason and Dick will be 10x better at being Batman by the time they are his age. Tim is another story, he's pretty much lauded as being the best at everything his maturity and skills convinced him that Batman needed a Robin, Dick and Jason were drafted for their own good, Tim made a rational choice and volunteered.
>>92372202
He's not, though? He made it all the way to Future's End. (And by the time that happened, his character was warped so badly I don't care about him any more. Jeez, the guy's Asian, where the fuck did the British accent and theme come from? Red King Jack my ass.)
