WHAT did he MEAN by this?
>>92339968
Steve Ditko was a tool.
Raimi clearly had a brief stint writing Spider Man comics.
>>92339996
This isn't Ditko though. It's Untold Tales of Spiderman #2 by Kurt Busiek and Pat Olliffe
>>92340077
Busiek is such a sucker for old timey marvel I'm sure he was trying to emulate Big D's Objectivist beliefs through the dialog
Not entirely a bad thing
honestly spider-man wouldn't care about the "natural social order". He's a fucking outcast and the natural order is the strong shitting on the weak, something he hates.
>>92340977
>spidey tries to do good stuff generally
>has to demonise his own public image for money
This is some late stage capitalism shit right here
>>92339968
"I NEED MONEY"
>>92339968
It's pretty in character to me.
Spider-Man has always been kind of selfish (even ignoring the Ditko years) and clearly doesn't really care about social norms.
>>92340977
>spider-man wouldn't care
Yes, that is why he referred to himself as riff-raff and said he didn't care.
Also "natural order" is an oxymoron. Nature is continuous flow and change, only humans try to freeze things in place with an "order" in which someone's past successes or the successes of their ancestors guarantee them protection and a continued spot in a hierarchy.
Who wrote this?
I remember there was a discussion about this around the time when Superior Spider-Man came out.
Some anon pointed out that SpOck would have been Pete's natural evolution if Stan Lee hadn't stepped up and made the character more likeable than what Ditko had been doing by shoving his objectivist ideas into Spidey/Pete.
