I though some years back Betty Boop became open domain to use....
But im probably wrong?
So we are stuck in an era where people cant use anything around ever if it was made after the 18 century?
Disney and other corporations will push the rules so people cant get anything and they are the only ones allow to exploit their franchise and make remakes for another 500+ years
Ironic thinking how Disney pretty much made his empire by using public domain stuff....
or is there some good news here?

As far as they're company created creations (officially, I mean),and said companies are still alive, I'm guessing they will not be legally public domain. Now, I'm not an expert in american creative rights issues, so I may be wrong. But wouldn't surprise me if it's like that, and the reason why they were sooo much against giving the actual creators legal rights over them (that means acknowledge that they were more than commissioned works).
Quite a few Fleischer shorts ended up in public domain.

Or at least, as far as they use said creations each X years. I think it's something like that.
Wouldnt be fair to say "you make something as a company, you can exploit and rape your stuff for 100 years, then anybody can use the characters and stuff like public domain, but they dont have to use the same dessigns"
protecting the version each people make....
I mean.... fucking dated rules that will never get fix.

I've long advocated for fixing copyright terms at no more than 40 years. New content doesn't get created if you don't let old stuff go.

Blame Disney and their iron grip on Mickey Mouse.
>>92331230
That can be solved if we push all Disney lawyers out of a plane at 20,000 feet with no parachute.

But copyright Jews still exist.
no people just don't give a shit about anything unless it gets advertised

Betty Boop the character is still under copyright, just like Mickey Mouse and other 30s cartoon characters.
She will enter public domain in about ten years with the rest of them.
