Maybe some crazy time traveling mishap on BG's part is the cause of the reboot. BG travels back in time and tells Pa Kent to lighten up being a downer all the time really effects a kids outlook on the world.

The DCEU is great so far and Booster would fit all the better in it for contrasting with the serious heroes.
