We all know the "muh reletabillity" meme, but honestly, how many characters are there that you truly "relate" to? I mean, shit, their problems are too unrealistic, their powers way too OTP, there's really little wiggle-room.
I mean, shit, I love Doom, but the guy is Newton crossed with Bruce Lee and Alexander. And that's just one example. Doctor Strange stares down gods. Batman is... BatGod. And the list goes on and on.
So yeah, the whole thing is literally a meme. Nobody relates with fictional characters, folks just project themselves onto them. They like to think they're the hung musclemen with an IQ of 250 who slap around aliens. It's all a joke.
But, since I started this... I'll go with JonCon. He's not an autist like Rorschach or any other street levelers. He's not a super-genius, but he's a smart cookie. He's not a bad guy but no hero either. He's not even that good with magic.
Sure, he's still a mostly fearless twat, something nobody here in /co/ is, but still. He's a pretty realistic character. A jerk, not particularly gifted or handsome, nothing special. In the end, he's the most "just a guy" of them all.

Cyclops. I tend to be pragmatic and less emotionally driven, due to not having a particularly good track record in human interactions.
>>92320619
For me it's Joker, intelligent, nihilistic with a wicked sense of humor
>>92320763
Hmm, that's a good choice.
>>92320818
Ah anon, you're truly E U P H O R I C I bet...
As for Doom, you know, he's actually pretty reletable to a certain extent. He's petty, vengeful, constantly angry, has an inferiority superiority complex and does everything to one-up the guy who's better than him. To an extent, all of us are like that.
>>92320619
Max Damage. His path to redemption is pretty cool.
I got bullied(just like Max), developed a victim complex and started to act like a huge douche after I got fit. In the end I decided to change and be a better person.
>>92321510
Good pick anon.
As for me, dunno. I'm pretty normal. Got emotionally bullied, but nothing major. No friends now, but I have no problem. Fit enough, but no Chad. Smart enough (studying physics at Uni) but I doubt I'm gonna be the next Newton. Good looking enough but not Hollywood-level. Average family. I'm really just... average. And I can't find anyone to truly relate to. Any ideas?
Shit luck
Constantly disrespected
Bit of a manchild
Tries to do the right thing but always ends up in trouble anyway
A hero only in his own mind, an asshole to everyone else
I feel for him
>>92321727
People like Venom 'cause "muh 90s" but Eddie is seriously reletable.
>>92321674
Superboy.
>>92321510
Man, I really hated the way this comic ended. It just felt like a fucking cop out, especially after they went to the trouble of making his powers really interesting.
>>92321994
Anon, if I find Tony Stark & Doctor Doom unrealistic, how am I gonna elate to a clone with Luthor & Superman genes? Not to mention I don't like teens.
Thanks for the suggestion though.
>>92321830
Yeah, which is why I've always hated Venom haters. Sure some like him just for the cool factor, but there are tons of other "cool" looking characters who never got popular, it makes me mad when people think anyone who liked Venom is just some idiot and that he has no merit as a character
>>92320619
yes

Preach anon.

Damn furries...
>>92320619
Jughead.
Bigby for me.
>>92322801
no im actually a cat
I wouldn't say that I relate to bloodshot but I empathize with ray, Im in the military and while I didn't have a combat job I do have memory problems and anger issues that make it difficult for me to be close to anyone but at the same time I love my wife and stepson dearly and have strong paternal instincts.
>>92323693
>and stepson
Oh you cheeky cunt
>>92322051
Yeah. It felt like Mark Waid wrote himself into a corner. There wasn't any big pay off.
But at least we got Max learning everyone has their own problems, protecting his new city and waiting for his underage girlfriend to be legal.

>stepson
I think you mean Wife's...
>>92320619
Beast. tries to do the right thing, is more intelligent to the extent others have no idea what's going on when it's obvious, gets shit on by insecure alphas and looks athletic but is clearly more nerd than anything else
>>92321727

MUH NIGGAS
dont forget the rapey homoerotic combat mode and how nonchalante he is even with mortal enemies
>>92320619
The Punisher
Cormac Fitzgeoffrey
Unfortunately I have to say Cassidy, albeit without the remarkable charisma or rampant drug use but just about everything else checks out as far as the self-loathing, irresponsibility and impulsive nature goes.
>>92320619
>how many characters are there that you truly "relate" to?
most of them.
so long as they have desires and reactions that make emotional sense to me I can relate to them
Awkward weeb autismo like Panda.
Obnoxious bro austimo like Griz.
Autismo like Ice.
There's a reason why she's my favorite Guardian.
>>92320619
I've always related heavily to those comedic cartoon villains that always fail like Coyote or Dick Dastardly

Cassidy is such a good character, your heart breaks for him and yet you hate him at the same time.
As far as heroes go, I'd also add Tony Stark. If you break him down, he's one of the most reletable chacters ever.
>He's good (albeit comic book good) at just one thing. He's no "I'll scienxze everything" like Pym, Doom, Richards, etc, etc.
>He's no 24/7 hero, and indulges in the pleasures any man would. He fucks, he drinks, he has a good time.
>He's a jerkass, arrogant, vindictive, greedy fuck. But, despite all that, he still wants to help, in his own way.
>No fancy super-powers, just a suit of armor (granted it's a comicbook-y suit of armor, but you get the point).
Honestly, if you take out the richboy angle, most folks are like Stark. He really works both as a reletable character and as an aspiration.
Bojack Horseman is like an amplified reflection of the shittiest parts of me. Fortunately those shitty parts are only part of who I am, not the entirety. Or even the majority, most of the time.
