In KH2, after Kairi got a keyblade and gaving that speech about not sitting back while her fate is decided by others (shortly before she gets shut out by the "no girls allowed" door and spends the end of the game waiting for the others to decide her fate), I thought it would have been cool to have her be another character I could put in my party.

Only she would suck. She would start at level 1, and be a pain to level up, but the option would still be there, and if you put the time in to train her she could actually be worth taking into the final battle.

After KH2 though, doing anything like that now seems like it would be too little too late. Like her pointlessness is set in stone. I would still prefer a Kairi training chapter if they are going to make her a fighter though.

Originally the protagonist of KH was supposed to be Mickey himself.
This idea was scrapped early on because he was deemed to lack flexibility as a character in terms of how he would react to different situations happening to him.
Mickey is too strict and always has to look a certain way.
You can see this in every KH game, when he shows up he looks stiff as fuck, like someone is wearing a costume, compared to humanoid characters.

The writing in KH1 wasn't good, either. Riku vanished like a fart in the wind after Sora found him the first time, in Traverse Town, and he didn't even care that he left. Riku was acting like a goddamn idiot the entire game. There was no build-up to anything. Sora becoming a heartless, which they later decided would be massive for the franchise, had no dramatic weight and lasted fifteen seconds.

Writing in KH1 is worshipped only by retards that played the game when they were young as fuck and forgot basically everything about it.

KH1 is a terrible game in general.
It has a simple story made for kids that's good for what it is but it's mechanically a clunky piece of shit.
And most people here are probably so fucking stupid they're not even gonna play the final mix version of KH1 with the added "in between" combo moves that make combat at least somewhat more bareable compared to vanilla.
The level design is also often atrocious to say the least.

KH2 was 90% OC shit with flat, simple levels but at least it focused on being fun as shit to play with tons of fluidity to the combat.

I think they didn't so much as got rid of them as lost them when they did the hackjob that was converting the games over to PS3. Apparently, they did what Bluepoint (the guys behind things like the Ico collection) did, but without nearly as much of the professional finesse, hence much of the data got fucked sideways. And I still wonder why they're even bother with Xbone when they've only ported the other games to PlayStation.
