Luthor's grudge against the Daily Planet is well-known, and I know he's been pissy on Lois Lane's reporting before. But it seems he's trying to bait the Planet or Lane or both with a Trump-esque quip on someone just related enough to them they'll feel a need to defend him.

I feel bad for this Kent, he's probably just doing his job and got his name randomly chosen for this quip when Luthor looked over a rollcall of the Planet's journalists to troll.
