>Lack of variety
Lets have a non cape thread
I wish we had better translators for French and other European comics (mostly French)
Most people consider the serialized, 300+ issues format of American comics to be a huge barrier of entry but it doesn't seem like other countries really have that problem
>>92243378
Honestly I thought the same way regarding the whole entry barrier for American comics but then I found out recommended reading lists were a thing
Is Guerillas worth checking out?
Keep your eyes peeled for another Simon Hanselmann mini, I guess. He's really popping these out now.
Not that I'm complaining, Portrait was fantastic.
So The Goon is getting a tabletop game
Neat
I think what american comics need are editorial driven non capes. Image, DH and such always publish the same pretentious and repetitive sci fi, dramas and mysteries.
Comics lost a lot of audience when people who likes genre fiction moved to paperback books, that movement also killed fiction magazines.
Comics should aim for people that reads for fun and not nerds who read for pretentious reasons.

American Comics need a few Shonen Jump/Spirou/Heavy Metal/2000 AD-esque anthology titles, serializing a variety of stories
What are some non big two comics /co/ in general (that includes the cartoon side) would probably love?
>>92244863
Judging by the ever-present Hellboy threads I might have one guess.
>>92244863
Okay, rephrasing questions.
What are some non big two comics that also weren't adapted in any shape or form would /co/ in general (that includes the cartoon side) probably love?
>>92244417
The guys who publish Predator and Buffy the Vampire Slayer are pretentious? Image isn't all that high brow either my dude. All they publish is fun stuff like you seem to want.
>>92244552
No, that is part of the problem, comic anthologies and magazines that were fiction anthologies were killed by paperback books.
Years ago in a newsstand you could buy sci fi and romance tales magazines and comics had the same audience but that audience moved over to paperbacks.
>>92245351
The their problem must be marketing, because i browse left and right through comic covers without context and rarely any of their stuff gets my eye
>>92245669
Dark Horse has a terrible fucking marketing team for sure. I love Harrow County, I have never seen any press for it, I heard about it through word of mouth from other comic creators online. If it's not related to Hellboy or a Firefly coloring book Dark Horse has no idea what to do
>>92245669
I never knew Image had a Youtube channel until some Anon pointed out they uploaded a new video to promote a book after 2 years

>>92244346
movie fucking when
>>92243378
Dark Horse and IDW are working on it.
I've been reading the IDW collections of Torpedo and loving it
>>92246087
I heard a interview with Harrow County creative team on NPR once. Probably the most Dark Horse press coverage I've ever seen though
Can we not do the whole "HOW DO WE FIX THE INDUSTRY I WONDER HOW WE CAN BE RECOGNIZED BULLSHIT" and just recommend some comics we like? Maybe Storytime them? I'm enjoying the hell out of Sherrif of Babylon and just got Extremity.
Hey /co/, I remember seeing a comic in my local library years ago but I don't remember the title.
I think it had to do with a therapist, a young boy, and a lion mask
Just got the first volume of Nemesis the Warlock in the mail, Mills and O'Neill are such a great pair.
>>92244985
I'm reading Neat Stuff by Peter Bagge and its very influenced by older cartoons, Bagge's other well known comic Hate however less so although its also very good.
>>92246643
Damn that looks nice
What's the biggest hidden gem you know?
Bought and read two volumes of I Hate Fairyland. First volume was a blast and a half. It was interesting to see the bullshit of the yellowtape in such a whimsy place being a constant background and annoyance. gotta go fetch X at Y then do Z, riddles at inappropriate times, swears replaced with sfw fluff (although the sun almost did swear for real once...), The Narrator's Guild, and the little hearts in Happy's speech bubbles made it all very believable that this is the land of bullshit fairytales, googly eyes on EVERYTHING, and diabeetus. Anyone having to deal with it for decades would get sick of it fast and go crazy, and i love this comic for it. Been too busy and missed the free comic day one thou.
I'm looking for something with good fight scenes.
Got any?

Hopefully Sausage Party as bad it is proved that Rated R animated movies can be successful.
Hoping that execs don't ruin it though
>>92247930
Infinite Kung Fu
Rumble
Shark Knife
>>92244216
He also has a one page comic in the new fante bukowski book
>>92248502
thanks
>>92245484
I basically made the the same argument in another thread, but I implied that's why manga/anime(and basically everything else) was doing better, so people got really upset.
>>92248745
Things have changed though, Image dominates the book market and even has loads of comics in the top 100 from diamond now. Even really small time publishers like Fantagraphics has their first (consistent) recent non Dan Clowes hit with My Favorite Thing is Monsters
