>people actually think the crystal gems are allegories for lesbians
>>92230897
By "allegories", you mean literal than yes
>>92230897
How could you interpret them as anything but lesbian space rocks?
>>92231330
Because home world forbids heterolithic fusions. The crystal gems fought a totalitarian matriarchy for the sake of securing the rights life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness to both man and gem. Steven Universe is one of the most right wing shows on TV.

Okay but they're girls who fall in love with girls so they're lesbians.
I don't-
What do you want from me, OP?! Just say it already!
>>92231715
Not OP. I just wanted to use "heterolithic." It sounds cool.
>>92231715
This thread is bait.
Trust me, I'm an expert.
>>92232754
Yur bait
>>92230897
We all know this is bait but let's redeem this thread
What other interpretations can you guys think about the gems and what else could they be a allegory for?
>>92233394
Since there are no men gems, forget the part about sexual orientation, and assume it's all straight. Fusion represents the idea of two becoming one. That physical relations always come with emotional connection. This is similar to the Biblical view of marriage.
>>92230897
>people actually give a shit
>>92231330
>Rocks have genders
Tumblr pls.
>>92233691
>Since there are no men gems
Sugar confirmed that there could be male gems. There's nothing stopping Amethyst from just having the Purple Puma be her base form for instance. In fact, if the show goes on long enough, and we actually get a season-long homeworld arc, I bet we see a gender-fluid aristocratic gem

>>92233394
>>92230897
They're allegories for non-standard relationships. Why do you morons think five rubies fusing was fine but a ruby and a sapphire was bad?
>b-but it's not exactly woman+woman so it's not the same
It's the same shit but with aliens who don't have gender
>>92235732
>Female pronouns
>Look female
>Act female
Anon, I...
This fucking show is literally an extended visual pun on "family jewels". Fuck Time Warner.
>>92236072
No, you're confusing relationship with sexual relationship. Fusion, at least in the case of Garnet, is a clear reference to the emotional bonding of lifetime monogamy. In the others' cases it references the love and trust of close friendship. The whole show is about emotional maturity, why should something that connects two minds so closely be an allegory for carnal sex?
agape eros phileo storge
>>92235708
Because it's fascinating how a tumblresque show applied good logic and became conservative.
>>92237806
Rubies and Topaz look like guys... so they are mens.
>mfw entertainment is supposed to be entertaining
>mfw entertainment has turned into a nonstop spray of one-sided liberal jargon
>mfw i need an outlet to escape my outlet to escape the weight of life
>mfw the future generations will probably look at this shit like we look at 1950s propaganda toons and think we were all brainless assholes
can i be allowed to have fun watching cartoons again please.
if powerpuff girls were made today it would probably bring up feminism in half the episodes. (sorry for the character assassination of craig mccracken, hes a pretty chill dude)
>>92240740
By that logic everyone here is a girl since you all look like total faggots.
