He's married. Peggy is also pretty stacked herself.

Propane and Peggy
>>

>able to resist this?
By not being the kind of fucking monster who'd take advantage of a teenage girl who's taken you on as a father figure.
You see, unlike most people on this site, Hank had something called a heart, a soul, and a brain.
>>
He couldn't even cope with her walking around with a long shirt and no pants.
>>
>>92219857
He talked to her for more than 5 minutes.
>>
>>92219857
You never stick your dick in stupid.
>>
>>92220475
Anon, that's exactly what you're supposed to stick your dick into.
>>
>>92219976
Hanks a better man than most period. He's stubborn and hides his emotions, but when push comes to shove he'll do the right thing.
>>
>>92220551
As an adult re-watching the show it astounds me of how good a man Hank is.
I borders on the mary sue how every character thinks that he's their best friend, but god damn it I can't hate the guy
>>
Hank is a good man. He's also literally always right. I honestly can't think of one episode where he was in the wrong.
>>
>>92220653
How about how dismissive he is of Bobby.

Or the when he tells people to shut up.
>>
>>92220696
>letting your son go into a frivolous profession in entertainment when he could be selling honest propane
And lets be honest, almost every person in the king of the hill universe is an absolute dumbass
>>
>>92220630
Honestly Hank reminds me of my own father when i was growing up. Thankfully i wasn't a faggot like Bobby
>>
>>92220696

99% of the decisions Bobby makes are retarded. He's seriously not a bright kid.

And 99% of the time when Hank tells someone to shut up it's warranted.
>>
>>92220785
I think Hank was trying to keep Bobby from being a braindead libtard
>>
>>92220653
If he is in the wrong he always gives in to more tolerant or understanding ways by the end
>>
>>92220353
Holy shit this
>>
>>92220515
That explains how you came to be

how does hank end up the way he did being raised by cotton?
>>
>>92220964

My great-grandfather was drunk, abrasive asshole who was a shithead to his wife and son. My grandfather is the best man I've ever known and my personal hero. My mother says that because his father was such a horrible person he endeavored to be a better man and a better father, and obviously he succeeded. Hank is the same way.
>>
>that episode had no naked Connie

16 years later and I'm still pissed off.
>>
>>92220964
Much like Hank I've built my own life up from the terrible father I've had
>>
>>92220964
I think faith might have had an effect as well
>>
>>92220964
Hank plays everything "by the book". So he gives his father the respect a son should give his father(as said in the ten commandments), even if Cotton never deserved any. In the same way, he takes moral lessons from faith and role models completely literally. So that rigid moral code overrides anything he would have copied from his dad.
He knows his dad is a womanizing asshole, but he's still his father and he respects and loves him as a son even if cotton rarely acts like a father to him.
The funniest part is that he doesn't care for Hank, who is an all american quarterback and wanted to be a military man (if not for his narrow urethra), and loves Bobby.... who is Bobby.
>>
>>92221081
>If you want your son to be a good person you must be an abusive monster to them
>>
>>92221397
Hank could've replaced Aikman had he stayed with football
>>
>>92221427
there's a 50/50 chance the son will either try to be a better person or will end up a piece of shit like his father
>>
>>92221484
More like 30/70.
>>
>>92220964
>Hell, if it's a contest on who's the better daddy, you win! I mean, you made Bobby! All I made was you.
God damn I love Cotton.
>>
>>92221957
I've always loved the Cotton/Bobby relationship.
>>
>>92220696
Shut up, Dale.

It worked for me.
my dad was a crackhead, alcoholic child rapist and I used my hatred of him to stay away from drugs, violence and generally awful things and to become someone people could depend upon.
likewise though, it fucked up most of my siblings in a bad way instead.
>>
>>92223389

Sorry about your Dad Anon, it's a miracle some People turn out normal or at least pretend to be fine.

well, by some miracle I have a high IQ, aspirations and no panic attacks(like the rest).
I could blog a whole essay about it but that's neither here or there.
long story short: I will never spread my genetics.
>>
>>92224277
>I will never spread my genetics
As much as I'll try to love my parents, I've used that exact phrase many times before. Enough generations, already.

Bobby sounding scarred for life after seeing Luanne's hot body still makes me laugh.

loving discipline is the key to fatherhood

be tough but fair and always make sure your kids know you love them.
>>
>>92220788

>"uh, feelings of fondness and..."

If that scene in the first episode didn't make you think of your own father, you didn't have a real dad.
>>
>>92225383

One of Plato's Dialogues has to do with Socrates musing on whether or not it's even possible to teach people to be good. Goes into a lot of contemporary examples of amazing fathers who had shit sons and vice versa. Worth a read. I think that was "Meno."
>>
>>92220653
He's overly dismissive or paranoid of anything regarding drugs or computers and has frequently gotten himself into trouble by refusing to take a level approach to either. He also has a childlike sense of trust to anyone he even moderately regards as a father figure and lets himself get taken advantage of.
>>
>>92225213

>did he have a big penis?!
>y-yes!

episode would have been the GOAT /ss/ if the reverse also happened and luanne freaked out to her friends over his cock.
>>
>>92225419
Ah philosophy.
I've often thought of the same stuff you've mentioned as a child.
personally, I believe you can teach goodness but at the same time I think different people have a different capacity to learn.
I'm pretty sure intelligence levels play a big part, mental illness(another touchy subject for philosophy) is also a factor as well as how early and consistently goodness was taught.
there's always chance encounters and the coinflip nature of how we may perceive, react and grow from them.
The pessimist in me wants to believe that man, as any beast, is vicious, fearful, hungry and self serving at it's core instinctual level and that every man has it in him, saint or sinner, some just have a harder time controlling them or being in touch with them.
we were made with the fear and hunger of a beast and the creative and destructive potential of a god.

To keep this thread related, hank, if like me, likely realized his dad was shit but wanted to be the hero he thought was real anyway, perhaps out of spite and so worked towards being the hero he didn't have in his life and in that course managed to find forgiveness and love in his heart for his father, whether he deserved it or not.
