Hi, friends. I don't know if you remember me, but I'm the anon from a few weeks ago who had a pipe dream of making his own printed collection of all the Insider and otherwise uncollected short stories. After finally getting my hands on Blade Squadron: Jakku today, I finally have the whole thing transcribed and organized. I just need to decide some stylistic things and typeset it, then I'll be good to go. I'd love some input though:

Strictly chronological won't work, because I want all 4 Blade Squadrons together. Release order is out for the same reason.

Also, I'm including the 3 stories from Rise of the Empire, because I didn't buy it to avoid double dipping. Putting them together obviously makes sense, but that might make the pacing of the book a little wonky, since they're so much longer than the rest (other than The Perfect Weapon).

Any ideas on order?

Currently the title page for each story looks approximately like pic related, including the author, original publication and date, and info about any tie-in books. I'm not including the artists because I'm not including art (though I may list the artists on their own page at the back of the volume just to be nice?).

Closest thing is Son of Dathomir.

Dark Horse was doing TCW Tie-In Maul comics for a while, and Son of Dathomir was released as the final chapter of that series based on the unfinished TCW episodes. Obviously, that was the only part of the series that was kept for canon.

Marvel is actually reprinting it under their label later this year.

Yes, we do. There's an entire scene devoted to it, where after Obi-Wan's report senators debate the issue in Palpatine's office. Bail Organa points out that the senate's not going to vote for this, and that's when Sheev and Mas drop their hint that tricks Jar Jar into giving proposing the emergency powers.

Mas outright says that the senate has to give the Sheev emergency powers so he can approve the use of the clone army. The Jedi have no say over whether the Republic accepts the clones.

He's proven he can more into subtlety and dealing with sophisticated situations. And he's been stated to be the best of his trade during his lifetime and that he had commanded fear and respect from the entire galactic underworld.

Boba's maybe an upper-middle level Bounty Hunter who seemingly doesn't have the professionalism and diligence to take care of his own equipment and regular bar patrons aren't afraid to insult him to his faceplate.

Supposedly the writer made a cameo as "Grey Leader" but he was cut. Suppose they're was also Grey Squadron there, so we had Blue, Red, Gold, Green and Grey? Or dobyou thinknhe meant "Green" Leader instead? It would make sense this way, if his scenes as Green Leader were cut, then there wouldn't be him reporting in to Raddus and thus Green Squadron isn't acknowledged in the film.

NuCanon has really limited the potential for interesting post-ROTJ stories imo. They should of at least stretched out the Imperial remnants fighting the Rebels/New Republic for longer, rather than having the war end a year after Endor.

Plus now we know there's no chance of any large scale conflicts happening between Jedi and TFA since it'd fuck with the continuity too much. And they can't have any stories heavily involving any of the main OT characters because the ST is still being made. I'm optimistic that after IX comes out NuCanon will be a lot more expansive and interesting, but as of right now it just seems like all we're getting are stories that have little consequence and won't compare to the epic scope of the EU books

so has anyone read Rebel Rising? I haven't seen much discussion of it but good lord is it bleak. this might be the darkest book in canon. it is soul crushingly dour.

If you've seen that YouTube analysis where they talk about Jyn being a passive protag as a criticism, well, now you know why. because her life is pure unrelenting SHIT. if the epilogue wasn't tacked on to this book to the it into Rogue One, this would literally be a book about how a girl is abused and destroyed and left to die in slavery with no hope, the end. I'm shocked this was the direction they decided to go in for a young adult novel.
