Internal logic is very inconsistent to the point where it's unclear what being half-ghost even means. Just generally it wasn't as clever than either of the other two shows especially when it comes to humor. And Sam is god awful and rarely, if ever, gets comeuppance. And she's such a major character that it's a shame.

But I really don't mean to shit on it. It's still good, just not as good.

I'm not much of a cartoonfag so I don't know who that is, but it's kind of a common mistake many writers make with that voice of reason character type. It's possible for that character to intentionally be written with the hypocrisy of acting exactly like those they hate ("road to hell is paved with good intentions") but you need to address it at some point in-series and then have actual change in behavior moving forward.

PPG is an all time classic. Where I lived didn't have Disney Channel until I was in High School so I can't say much about KP. It always seemed pretty good from the few bits I've seen of it though. Danny Phantom is dogshit. Fuck that show.

The internal logic is that there are two types of ghosts: Races that live in the ghost zone and green blobs of ectoplasm. The green blobs don't really have intelligence or much of a form on their own, so they pick up residual consciousness from dead people on Earth and build their "identity" around it, taking all of their thoughts, memories, and personality (as well as taking on a similar physical appearance). The ectoplasm blobs inherently have a bunch of supernatural abilities, so they have additional powers that the humans they're mimicking didn't.

Danny Phantom is half-ghost because he accidentally got one of the green blobs merged into his DNA. That's also why his ghost-half can be separated from him and looks like him when it comes out.

The show followed its own rules pretty consistently.

I feel like your explanation doesn't work considering when they were given origin stories it was played as if they were the ones who lived those lives rather than just taking from dead people. I would agree that's generally how the writers probably thought of them, but the end result of how they were presented on the show was muddled which is my criticism.
