Like putting on a half-forgotten movie you liked only to find that you don't remember (or didn't see in the tv edit version!) the awkward sex scenes and stuff. I'm sure everybody's done something that only turned out to not be family-appropriate.

Someone once posted a theory that Captain Boomerang's real power was to make people forget how boomerangs worked. Just so that CB could always use the line "Because boomerangs always come back." Forgetfulness can be used for comedy. But yeah, CAH is just... wrong on a lovecraftian level.

This happened to me when I was eight and my mother let me watch The Exorcist and swore up and down to me "it's not THAT scary, you'll be fiiine" when I objected that maybe I couldn't handle it yet. She was so fucking pissed when I woke her up later that night to timidly complain that the neighbor's washing machine vibrations were shaking my bed and keeping me awake, but honestly, now that I think about it, she deserved so much worse for pulling that bullshit.
