Efheby

Also called naga, or skullpilots, efheby are purported to be the last senet beasts that the Twins created. They have the upper torso of humans but the lower body of a powerful snake. Fiercely territorial, efheby do not enjoy the company of their own kind, preferring to remain alone in the wilderness hunting or in the cities of men, sporting and studying with humans. Cunning, venomous, and shrewd, efheby have survived the predations of mankind for thousands of years, selling him his shed scales and amassing vast, hidden fortunes. I wouldn't oversell their intelligence. They're senet BEASTS, after all. They may have a lot of raw knowledge but actually having the intelligence to put it to good use is probably something they would have to rely on humans for. Humans are the gods favorites. Their number-crunching little monkeys. I wonder if humans aren't of more use to senet beasts than vice versa, and that's why Tittybird keeps this group of wrights around.

Rather than humans relying on an ancient god for power and knowledge, it's a trope reversal. These old, wise gods rely on humans to figure out what to do with all that knowledge.

But think about it, Alderode has a great, well-known love of snakes, probably because of efheby influence. They probably don't just slide around mindslaving people, it's more likely that they do so on behalf of the state that houses and feeds them. So an efheby being honored in Alderode probably isn't too outlandish
