My local shop sucks
Every time I go in, the dudes have no interest in talking, despite me being a regular. I get my pulls, each and every time they ring me out silently and stare at my titles like they're judging me. It got old after a while, I feel like I'm not even welcome there despite my weekly business. And when people they want to talk to come in, they talk and talk and forget people are waiting to pay for their shit.

Idk man, might switch back to mail subscriptions. Technically I save money but usuallu the comics come in bent or crushed and shit, been burned too many times for that. Or maybe I just wait for trades to come out, but I really don't want to wait that long.

We have free swag for anyone who gets it but honestly Civil War II did better despite the reception it has. Also some of the customers aren't exactly.....thrilled about what's happening to Cap. On FCBD I spoke to someone who was actually pretty upset about it as she wanted to get back into comics after not reading them for a decade but the whole thing is leaving a bad taste in her mouth.

What about you guys? What's the reception like for Secret Empire at your local store?

Oh man I'm really sorry to hear that.

I hate hearing stories like this because LCSs should be a fun place to go to and just shoot the shit about comics. Do you have other shops in your area where you can go to?

I had to move slightly further into town and this had to change LCS.
They're a small chain so I'm still going to the second type of comic store with my pull list, but I've just got this "not muh LCS" feeling with the new one.
I'm sure they'll grow on me though.

Plus they got a book club kinda thing going on I might join .

have you tried midtowncomics for online ordering? I've never had an issue with their comics shipment. They come packed pretty tight and always arrive in great condition

Mine is OK. I get 20% off my pull list every week which is the reason my collection hasn't become digital only. The owner once got mad and started complaining about how I was canceling half my pull list after not coming in for a month. He also almost didn't sell me a first printing of the first issue of Lazarus I found because he knew Rucka was coming to a con soon and could sell it for more after the con. The rest of the employees are nice.

I've found two types of "comicbook store owners" in my experiences; 'The Professional Shopkeep' and 'The Club Manager.'

Club Managers can be cool, but they lack pretty much all of the tact/customer service technique that you would expect from a retail location.
>Store A - Old man yells impatiently at me from the backroom "DON'T LET THE DOG OUT!" as I open the door to his store.
Great first impression.
>Store B - Tell owner multiple times that I'd be interested in buying "all those Badger comics" he knows he has in storage, but he never takes me seriously because I'm not one of his whales so nothing ever comes of it.
I've asked him multiple times for special orders/back issues and he just blows me off every god damn time.
