I don't really think that was the intent. Pretty sure Tommy's thought process was that the monkeys would take Dil away, not eat him. If these were the type of monkeys that ate babies the movie would be a lot shorter.

I mean, I wouldn't say "Never" hit a child.

What if the child is a terrorist sleeper agent and he's got a gun trained on your family, and the only thing stopping you from having a dead wife and child is to punt that little fuck in the face?

What if the child is a little cannibal and he runs up to you and bites down on your dick, and the only way to save your johnson is the smash that little bastard in the head?

What if an alien beams down to Earth as says "You. Anon. Hit this small child in the face or we'll destroy your planet. Comply and we'll leave and never return."

What if the child is the anti-christ, and you need to ram some holy daggers into his chest so that the world isn't flung into a thousand years of darkness as all the sinners are left behind to fight hordes of demons alongside Christ?

What if the child is rushing you with a sword and you, not wearing a gambeson or mail and any other protection, only have two options: Run away and risk him hurting someone else, or kicking that little faggot in the shin.

I could go on all day. But I won't.

The worst thing about this, it's the perfect crime. No fucking parent would ever think their baby son killed their newborn. They would've just assumed Dil disappeared, and spent countless years mourning instead of finding the truth. The only people who could possibly find out are the other Rugrats, and they're babies. If Tommy killed Dil right then and there, he would've gotten away with it.
>>
>>92197369
Tommy would probably forget he killed Dil
>>
>>92197409
That'd be even worse. Because that means Tommy committed infanticide, and his conscience clears him of it because he was too little to remember.

Are you mistaking Job for Isaac here, or am I misremembering this? Isaac never actually got sacrificed, it was just a test to see if Abraham would do it. The "moral" of the story is that you must fear God, but God's also not just going to let you totally fucking kill your kid holy shit man. Isaac isn't replaced.

Which doesn't really disagree with your point either. Abraham didn't want to sacrifice Isaac, that's why it was the thing God asked him to do. Tommy, in a fit of rage, wants to be rid of the burden of watching after Dil. He's not being pressured into it.

>Pretty sure Tommy's thought process was that the monkeys would take Dil away, not eat him.

Yeah, I thought this was what was on Tommy's mind too, moreso because I'm not sure he even gets the concept of death, let alone murder.

But I still think that the filmmakers wanted at least some of the adult audience members to put together that there was a danger of Dil dying from this action, either because the monkeys may eat Dil, or drop him, or leave him to die of starvation or exposure, or cause him bodily harm in some way. I think we were meant to get that Tommy would assume they would raise Dil as one of their own, but the audience was supposed to know that that wouldn't work out and one way or another Dil would die if the monkeys took him.

Personally I was one of those kids that knew that monkeys sometimes eat infants, so that was the imagery going on in my mind during the scene.
>>
>>92202861

When the adult gets drunk or something and isn't watching their kid properly, I assume. It's the same as any other unfortunate accident involving an animal killing a child, it just kind of happens sometimes.

The fucked up thing about this is that the woman making the call is the one who owns the fucking monkey, who then brutalized her friend who was just visiting. So the bitch keeps a chimp around because 'lel all animals are pets' and she's not even the one to suffer the consequences.

They're not friends any more incidentally.

I saw a baby's ears pierced and I thought that was really fucked up, but the woman I was with shrugged it off and didn't understand what I was upset about. I looked it up later and apparently it's an extremely common thing, parents go and get their little days old baby's ears pierced all the time. The justification I've seen for this is "it's cute".

And the kid doesn't feel bad, not because he's a sociopath, but because he was too little to even remember what he did?

no, the kid doesn't feel bad due to their morals still being very flexible and usually non-existent as a child
