Injustice obviously isn't canon, but it's popular with casuals and will cloud their idea of how Superman is for years to come. Right now we have people who honestly believe what happened in the game could happen in the regular comics. Fuck, there were people who thought they were adapting Injustice for BvS.

Hello, Storyteller.

... So, you know I don't much care for recs. But since I'm trying to be less of a pain in the ass, I was perhaps wondering if you knew of any books that make prominent use of visual storytelling.

Cause the thing is, despite comics being a visual medium, a lot of them seem often over reliant on dialogue and narration, which honestly baffles me. And not even just the obvious offenders like Bendis, even good comics tend to ramble a bit. And it's especially aggravating in this current age of rampant decompression, where you would think the extra length would be used to frame scenes more thoroughly than usual, but nope, more text which is often completely extraneous.

So, yeah, got any suggestions?
>>
>>92182341
Well that ain't DC's fault, the game isn't the main comics and vice versa

If dumb people think it is then they'll be in for a surprise should they put up main canon Superman

Issue 2 ends with a twist challenging the reading public’s interpretation of the entire series. It all depends on your view over what’s going on. And there will be multiple interpretations. But that will be a matter for debate. It is also possible if that event had been seeded more strongly earlier in the Captain America run that there would be a lot less fuss right now. But that will be a matter for debate
Yes, they have Hydra Youth.

That's from Haunter.

http://studygroupcomics.com/main/haunter-part-1-by-sam-alden/

If you want other stuff you can read right now I can shout out for Emily Carroll and Tillie Walden. Both have free comics up and they're good at stuff with a low dependency on words (but not all their comics are like that).

I don't know if you want pure visual spectacle or something specific but I can shout out for A Girl On the Shore, which is like dirty teen Japanese drama so I'm hesitant to rec Cranky it, as having some of the best body language and visual language I've ever seen in a comic. Also Takemitsu Zamurai, or basically anything by Taiyō Matsumoto, for great use of dramatic visuals and distortion for that effect.

Island has an entirely wordless strip that runs in it, A Land Called Tarot, by Gael Bertrand.

Oh also, the only reason why there's such a lack of variety is the monopolistic distribution system.

"Comics = Superheroes" is only true because Superhero fans were the only ones willing to trek out for a dedicated store, and are therefore the only ones with staying power.
>>
Hey storyteller,
I finished The Unwritten for the first time on the weekend, and finishing it makes the reasons you don't like Carey even more confusing. In that series, he wrapped up every character and storyline by the end of it, which makes his actions in his prowse stories (Felix Castor, I think you said) even more confusing.
All in all I enjoyed it, even though the Fables segment killed the pace and weakened it for the final few issues.

RIP. Heroes World Distribution Co., originally named Superhero Enterprises, was an American comic book distributor founded by Ivan Snyder, active from 1975 to 1997, during the growth and consolidation of the direct market. Heroes World was acquired by Marvel Comics in late 1994 to act as the publisher's sole distributor. This ill-fated move, combined with other marketplace factors of the time, resulted in the financial failure of many other comics distributors and retailers — and the near collapse of the entire North American comic book market.

Still though, can I get a blue waifu who doesn't get offed for once? And this one was even a bad girl too!

>HEY OWLS thanks for reading. Thanks for sticking with me even though I have a job and don't show up so often. My next night off is...Friday. So come back then and we'll talk about the week's comics, and I'll run something for you.
Thank you OP.

Thanks for running.

I don't think I'd want to go to a children's hospital sponsored by a flying green space potato that speaks in gibberish.

It's weird, but it shows how much she meant and hard her death hit him. Plus, it's a cute doll, I want one. The big downside of X-Statix is all the in-universe merch that you can't buy in real life.

@ariadnesisland

right now I'm shitposting about Texas politics
>>

Thanks for posting as always, Storyteller.

Y'know, X-Force/X-Statix is kind of a weird book. ... I already miss Edie.

Also, I think I'm starting to vaguely approach a point where you guys don't hate me! Still a ways off, but getting there.

What's the thick volume between Scalped and Saga of the Swamp Thing? I recognise the hand but the name escapes me

>>92186806
Cranky you're so similar to my younger brother I'm sometimes convinced you're actually him.

The actual attack didn't effect me as much as all the paranoid propaganda that ran around it every election year afterward. Had me worried Terrorists would try to bomb the Mall of America or the airport or something.

Phat and Vivisector are great in this run, resident bros. I gotta give my omnibus a reread sometime this summer.

Oh yeah, Thanks Texas for posting most of House of Mystery the other day. I downloaded 4gb of it, then noticed that the torrent I had running magically found seeders and finished when I wasn't looking ;^)

Meme magick at work as usual!

Yo Tex. The last WW movie trailer managed to make this movie look to be a rousing meh!

It looks like a Wonder Woman movie. Not a good one, but at the very least a Wonder Woman movie, and not some Xena knockoff wearing her skin.

So, like... yay?
>>
>>92189481
I saw the trailer play for about one nanosecond on Twitter before I NOPE'd out. Can't do it.

A meh movie sounds infinitely better than a movie that turns into a meme like MoS, BvS and SS. But honestly at this point I think it'll be a meme whether it's good or not.
>>
>>92189744
I can definitely agree with that. At the very least, I don't think it will make me angry.

And you can just tell that Jenkins is trying her damnedest, the poor dear.
>>
>>92190247
My husbando Jimenez really liked the trailer apparently.
>>
>>92189744
Honestly I was very nope on the movie but the trailer made me a bit more optimistic. There's at least a cool bracelet scene.

There's a giveaway for WW kids books, if any of you have nieces or nephews.
>>
>>92185315
The former. It's short for Edith.

Subtle.

People actually saw bae vs. bay as the ending coming from I think episode 3 onwards.

I actually think it kinda works.
>>
>>92195817
>I actually think "Because destiny says so." works.
Except it doesn't because there's no explanation for why Max saving Chloe caused a tornado to form other than "Butterfly Effect LOL". The game was otherwise following pretty consistent rules of causality. Max rewinds, changes thing, different thing happens.

But the ending, and by extension the main plot of the game goes like this. Max saves Chloe, tornado happens. What is the fuckin' through line here? This is some serious Step 3 Profit shit.

And I know what you're about to say "But it fits the theme!". What theme? That if you have the ability to help someone, don't? Cause remember, Max didn't even recognize Chloe at first, so as far as she knew, she was helping out a total stranger. Never help anyone for any reason. What a great message.

This ending is a text book example of forcing your narrative to fit your theme. That's bad writing.
>>
>>92195995
I guess I'm viewing it as a physical representation of the kind of social impact/repercussions of choosing Chloe, and vice versa. I'm pretty much in agreement with you in strict terms but I think there was an intention there that I don't entirely hate. The ending works for me as an abstraction.

I do feel where they wanted to go from the first episode was not where they wanted to go in the last. I think what appealed to them most in telling the story changed as they were telling it.
