>starts to destroy Scaramouche
>Ashi suddenly shows up
>Aku sees they're close to one another and decides to grab her to hurt Jack/lure him to his death
>but after Jack leaves, since he's got the sword and all
>Jack fights the Guardian again and wins
>but he doesn't go back in time because he has to go save Ashi from Aku
>Aku is also not present at the Guardian's lair, so he doesn't see the time portal.

Genndys not going to wrap everything up, seriously. Jack's strong suit has never been weaving an intricate and yet still coherent plot. It's mostly the action, animation and the crazy and varied plot scenarios and settings.

Jack is definitely returning to the location of the guardian next ep. Given the synopsis for next episode, my guess is that Jack finds out that all of the portals truly have been destroyed, aka his 'worst fear'.
