Actually many women are used to not having to do shit for themselves, which is why you get feminist whiners who don't bother to create the content they prefer, instead seeking to censor the content others prefer that became predominant out of retaliation.

There are some women with this preference that do create content but it is still very limited and usually fan art and fan fiction or online original character dabbling that never amounts to a finished product. I think part of that is that the status quo is so well established that publishing such material seems less likely. I do think that other avenues of monetizing independent comics becoming available lately will help give female creators with niche interests more of an outlet.

Look at how in Japan there's a far greater variety of comics and genres, and a large population of female creators. This is because comics have been much more mainstream and accessible in Japan for a long time, where as North American comics have been in this stagnant market that went from cheaply produced disposable entertainment on news stands to just a few publishers and one distributor having a strangle hold on the market, and eventually catering to collectors and increasing production cost, reducing accessibility.

With the advent of digital distribution and a resurgence of indie publishers the comic industry is slowly becoming less limited and stagnant, outside of the Big Two.

It just takes time for people with niche tastes to band together and form sub-genres.
