This episode was really a product of its era, no? More so the the rest of them.
Good for Genndy, though. Even in the interviews, he seemed like he had a blast writing them.

I don't hate Ashi, I think she's alright. But the first three episodes are universally hailed as the best this season. Around episode 4 is when the quality starts dropping. Wouldnt you know, that's when Ashi becomes a thing. If there were more than 10 episodes, they could flesh her out way better and make this whole relationship thing work out way more. But honestly, she brings it down for me.

But hey. At least season 5 actually fucking happened.

Worst episode by far, Rest have been either fucking amazing or good, but this shit was just filler garbage that just made me cringe.

To be honest, the show started dropping to mediocrity/bad levels after episode 3 anyway.

And the newer episodes continued to drop in quality to the point where I began losing interest and even forgot to watch last week's episode in the process.

Probably going to drop the show after tonight's episode because of it. It's just not worth it anymore.

I could care less if Jack was straight. Hell, I always knew he was straight based on his interactions with women in the old seasons, but the combination of Ashi now being a cardboard cutout of this trope >>92155435 along with the fact that their relationship and inner character conflicts/development were just rushed as fuck along with nearly every other major plot element in this season is why I dislike it.

Though I do find it amusing that the majority of /co/ is loving the fuck out of this episode just because it pissed off the tumblr community, despite the fact that it was also just a poorly written and poorly paced bad episode at large. Though I think we'll end up getting the last laugh when that same /co/ userbase will have a complete shit-fit if Ashi ends up killing off Aku, Jack dies and/or Jack refuses to return back to the past for the final episode. Because after tonight's episode, I'm almost certain that one of those 3 outcomes will happen.

All in all, this season is turning out to be a disaster and we would've been better off if the show didn't get a finale in the first place. It's a literal monkey's paw scenario.
