This is a complete non-sense, but I have a potential explanation.

Back in Spider-Man's arc "Ends of the Earth", Doc Ock controlled the Avengers to use them against Spidey and his allies. He controlled partially Thor and he could still use his hammer, but when Spidey tricked Ock to take complete control of Thor,he couldn't use the Mjolnir because Thor was unworthy.

So, maybe this picture means that the real Captain America, the hero who has fought against Hydra for so many years, is still inside this "Hydra Cap". And the presence of the real Captain America is what allow this Hydra Cap to use Thor's hammer.

Almost all religions include origin stories for the universe that usually entail the chief deity of that religion creating the universe. Canonically, all of these are false in Marvel because the actual in-story canon origin of the Marvel Universe is "Jack Kirby drew a comic book". All religions *exist* in Marvel, but that doesn't necessarily mean they are true. The Asgardians, for example, aren't actually the gods of Norse legend. They're a race of formless aliens beings that are influenced by conscious thought and came to believe that they are the characters of Norse legend (no, that is NOT just from Earth X).

Come to think of it, I'm pretty sure the canon creator of all the realities in the Marvel Universe is now Franklin Richards, but that could arguably fall under "happened in the universe created by Jack Kirby". Either way, it wasn't built by Ptah, spoken into existence by YHVY, carved from Ymir's body by Odin, sung into existence by that australian kiwi, or any other religious origin.

all that means is that you've reached the point where the Nazi's "kill or be killed" state of existence relates to your own. If you feel everyone is out to get you, and the only option is to join together with like minded people in order to fight a total war for your survival, then...you don't need to feel bad about it. Nazi's didn't have as big a thing about race as most people believe. There were Nazis of many races (not a lot, but a few). The big "race" thing is because the Nazis hated Jews and supported their Aryan natives. Nothing wrong with supporting your own people, and as for the Jewish thing...well. Basically Germany went fascist because WW1 fucked them over so hard and the republic at the time was corrupt and useless. The worse part is that WW1 was a time where Germany wasn't really a "bad guy" persay. WW1 was a giant shitstorm that no one likes to talk about.

Also, Nazis rose because of the violent communist gangs at the time. One brand of evil rose to combat another brand of evil at the time.

I wonder if this is what people meant when they say "evil rises when good men do nothing." If you don't prosecute an evil person, you are giving way for ANOTHER evil to rise to take care of the previous evil.

yeah, probably.

Admittedly, good and evil as as much perspectives as anything. But the longer good people refuse to stand in the way of evil, the more violence it takes to uproot and dispose of that evil. Eventually, that level of violence does get to the point of being "Evil" itself.

At which point I guess people have to decide which is the more tolerable of the two evils. And, given the way things under the Communists were going back then, I can't really blame most people for siding with the Nazis who were actually making things better, at least for a time.

Honestly, it's basically become the only enjoyable part of Marvel and the story behind it is interesting and isn't even a straight "Cap is Evil" story. It gives us a history to it, and shows us why Cap is Hydra without straight mind control, and it's obvious it means something different to him than it did the Red Skull. He's even actively working against the Red Skull still and wresting control of HYDRA from him. I have a feeling Helmut is gonna fuck things up and force cap to accelerate his plans.

Germany would have been almost back to full strength in less than a decade while France was still licking it's wounds and rebuilding the ravaged country.

The Post WW1 treaties were in an effort to slow down German rebuilding long enough for France to regain enough strength to maintain a Status Quo in Europe. Germany was a massive fag though and intentionally in some cases trashed their economy so they couldn't/wouldn't pay for shit. Germany's collapsing economy actually made some of the big wigs very, very, rich.

I'm not saying Germany was treated not harsh enough and that communism didn't have anything to do with the rise of fascism in Germany... It's just that a lot of the situation that Germany faced post ww1 was of its own making, and took it from being the most powerful nation in Europe to being the fifth most powerful country in Berlin.

Yeah, but their economy got extraordinarily buttfucked post-WWI. Keep in mind that their currency was so worthless that it took wheelbarrows of money just to buy a single loaf of bread. And lets not act like the Treaty of Versailles was anything that could be considered 'fair' for Germany, it was more about shifting the blame on Germany for WWI just because they happened to lose.

I'm actually surprised nobody has brought this up before. It's a solid point. Not that concentration camps are unique to either Nazis OR WW2-era United States; plenty of authoritarian regimes had some version of them. The USSR had their gulags, for instance.
