He was introduced pretty much because he's black and they needed a replacement for Rhodey.

But not counting that, he makes much more sense than your other examples, being related to Vibranium, something relevant in the MCU ever since the first Cap movie and even a big plot point in AoU, as the king of the country where it originates.

I think that would be interesting to see for T'challa's character, but if he doesn't experience growth in that perspective, wouldn't that imply that anyone with money or high stature can't sympathize with marginalized groups, even if they share similarites in race or gender?
