I'm not exactly sure how long it's been, they're still working on the same railroad from the movie.
It's even a plot point that the main character is the only one who's family is wealthy enough to own a luxury like a black and white camera.

There's not really a lot to talk about given that it is both short at just 6 episodes and also doesn't really do anything new with the girl and horse genre.
In fact, it might be the most standard by the books example of such a story.

I guess they realized it would go against the entire point of the movie to have Spirit be completely tamed.
He just trusts the one girl in particular and generally freaks out if you even try to put a saddle on him.
So she doesn't like it bareback as much as she's just forced into it.
