I agree, but I think it's not their fault there was no suspension because of the early leaked pictures, I think they did a good buildup over the episodes and the list thing was actually clever and in character for the gems. The show (still!) has a 10 minute format, which fucks up the pacing regardless of what they do. It worked in Season 1, where the lore was just a flavor, but it holds the show back in my opinion. The writers did a decent job within their limitations. I don't know why people always expect SU to be some sort of EPIC space opera thing, when it clearly is an slice of life/ adventure story.

On the contrary. Peridot's limb enhancers could do a million fucking things: control machinery/tech, shoot lasers, proper her away like a helicopter, etc. and she was only the Gem equivalent of a maintenance worker.

Gem destabilizers can poof anyone, even fusions, in just mere seconds. And if Jailbreak is to be judged then they're probably everywhere/easy to obtain.

It makes sense Aquamarine would have OP tech, even if she was Era I. That wand shit is just too useful to not to give to an elite agent sent by the Diamonds themselves.

I think that will be the main conflict when they reach HW. They're going to have the odds stacked against them from the get go. It makes it more intense/rewarding.

The new gems are weaksauce, some bulldyke Jasper and a basic blue Madeline with pixie wings. Perhaps worst of all, the fights STILL aren't the least bit enthralling, the core gems stand there like retards wondering what to do, it's Connie doing most of the actual combat with her sword, while Steven's deus ex shield activates at all the right moments. They made Lars puss out, which I'm sure will be another episode full of emotional shit dealing with it. And to top it off, Steven's on the verge of crying AGAIN during the damn fight because it's all his fault, and if only my mom never came here, and a bloo bloo bloo. I could get the least bit excited for his big emotional sacrifice if I knew we weren't in for another dozen episodes of the gems bickering and planning and doubting themselves on Earth taking a long time to get fucking nowhere all over again, and Steven himself making new friends and probably turning some his enemies because he's just so gosh darn likeable in his space prison, completely unharmed.

I'll say Aquamarine's the only good thing, and only because she blows all these idiots out so completely.

Mostly because the pacing was shaping up to space opera shit.

Steven started out as a literal crying child begging his nannies for adventures. Then he got to participate in gem adventures, learned his place in the world and started taking on more and more responsibility and leadership issues to the point he converted two homeworlders to their cause and making progress with centipeedle too. Everything pointed on to bigger and badder things coming. Then everything fizzled out, the cluster got resolved within a single episode, jasper was joke, memebarn, shit tons of townie filler instead of gem adventures etc.

The entire slow buildup and pacing just went nowhere. People expected a bang, not suddenly returning to S1

The issue with the show is that characters do not learn their lesson. Steven never learns that being a whiny bitch usually has negative consequences. The Crystal Gems never learn that hiding stuff from Steven usually leads to Steven being a whiny bitch which usually has negative consequences. The drama feels forced because of it. Steven has a character hasn't really progressed, outside of his Mommy issues getting bigger.

Even when they first got to the barn it still took time to do this. The "peace and love on the planet earth" section remains one of my favorite bits of the entire series.

the episodes (or the last two at least) were a step in the right direction because at least shit is happening now. I think another issue they wrote themselves into a corner with is that the diamonds are kind of too OP. I think if they wanted to they could just blow the entire earth to dust with a wave of their hands.

It's nice things are picking back up again after the dreadful filler we've had to muck our way through for ages, but I hope it doesn't get resolved or wrapped up too quickly like that human zoo nonsense. Time to do something with the things you've set up crewniverse.

Dont forget the worldbuilding and reveals of S1. Realizing how they are aliens, the monsters were corrupted gems, stevens mom was an alien warlord etc. Especially the Lapis introduction twoparter, it was chilling and dark as fuck and implied the CGs werent any better and just randomly harvested strangers "you dont know them Steven" The entirety of Homeworld was hyped up as some kind of unbeatable, looming, ominious threat. Peridot coming alone warranted and entire storyline, despite just being a lowly technician.

All the dark implications painted the universe as some kind of dark dystopia, full of wars and aliens and adventure and Earth just was a dinky little backwater.

Then we just randomly have BD visit earth now, literal retards like the ruby squad and cirno kidnapping humans. It just not what we was promised through the buildup and its a letdown. Maybe it would hurt less if we got a new episode every week instead of these retarded droughts.

As much as I think I'm overreacting about Aquamarine and Topaz's AKA Jotaro Kujo's designs, One thing really really bothers me. How come Aquamarine talks in a heavy, cockney British accent? It's one thing for Garnet to talk in a slight one because they're a fusion/they've been around for so long. It's another for Aquamarine to have one because that would imply that somewhere in space gems are pretty much in space Britain. So why? Does she have one so she sounds more evil? The final person on the list being "my dad"."My dad" was referring to Greg,but after everyone was captured effortlessly by Aquamarine and Topaz,Steven went ahead and let them know that he's actually more valuable than anyone on the list of townies because he's Rose Quartz

They realize how big of a score Rose Quartz actually is and leave the townies alone except Lars,whom managed to get away and hiding inside the ship during an action scene by running like a fucking faggot
