THE GREAT DEBATE
>Vol 1 doesn't have THE CHAIN
Vol 2
spirit in the sky is a shitty ass song so vol. 2
Brandy has been drilled into my fucking brain for a week. And when it's not Brandy, it's Come A Little Bit Closer.
they're both equal, vol 1 ultimately had more memorable songs but vol 2 had higher highs that were more thematically appropriate

Literally the only song from Vol. 2 that is really something else
This https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T0ZGNGBNIL8 plays in the Vol. 2 credits, really groovy but I don't think it is part of the Awesome Mix Vol. 2
It may just be because I listened to Vol 1 so much more, but I found it more memorable with more songs I was familiar with. They're both fantastic though and the song choices fit with the respective movies really well.

I think Vol 1 is overall better, but Vol 2 has Brandy, possibly my favourite song of all time.

I can't believe Gunn found a way to make it evil.

I like ELO, and Brady as well, but The Chain is the best of the bunch. I will say this. I tried making a Pandora channel with Vol 1, and loved it, as well as how it felt like the album. I tried adding in the Vol 2 track list, and it has been all over the fucking place. They may be decent option on their own, but IMO it just doesn't have the smooth flow and transition like Vol 1 did.

Vol 1, no question.
The Chain is a banger, Mr Blue Sky is 10/10, but Vol 1 just has more iconic songs.

The fact that they even attempted to retread this (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dWRWYYt47RI) territory, is admirable, but that they succeeded is doing so well is such another point in Gunn's favor IMO.

Shame
best music scene is the Sovereign appearing in orbit
Vol. 2 introduced me to "Wham Bam", which is awesomely funky.
Anyone got megas of the soundtracks?
Vol 1.
I unironically love OOGA CHAKA.
I kind of prefer Volume 1, mostly because a lot of the songs on Vol 2 (Mr. Blue Sky, The Chain, My Sweet Lord, Father and Son, Bring it on Home) are songs I'm already familiar with in other contexts and already appreciated.
Vol. 1 had Come and Get Your Love, which I'd actually never heard before and therefore feels a lot more iconic to me - I'm always going to think of that movie when I hear it, whereas that's not the same for Mr. Blue Sky.
Even when Vol. 1 had artists like Bowie on it, Moonage Daydream isn't one of his most well-known songs.
With Vol. 2 there are a few great ones though, Brandy is the obvious stand-out track. I really like the feel of Surrender, too, I know you barely hear it in the movie itself but the feel of it it really fits as one of the songs to close out the movie - same goes for Flashlight.

Moonage Daydream and to a lesser extent Spirit in the Sky kind of are.
I always thought this would be a great song to close out Vol. 2 while waiting for it to get made - Father and Son fits the bittersweet tone they went with for the ending perfectly, but it'd be nice to have this for Vol. 3 instead.

Vol 2 felt more on point, the songs were definitely more connected to the story and themes, so its probably the BETTER one
I still love volume 1 for introducing me to stuff I'd never heard before, like Come and Get Your Love
I was kind of disappointed we didn't have a Vol 3. I was expecting Ego to give it to Quill at the end of the movie, as music his mom gave him before leaving.
Maybe it's with Peter's grandpa.

neither were awesome.
Bring me Morbid Angel, and fuck this shit for retards

Honestly? The Guardians soundtracks feel a lot like the one for the original Anchorman movie, which featured Ride Captain Ride. I could totally see it on Vol 3.

It was bugging me trying to think of a movie I'd already heard it in, that's the one.

I will personally always associate mcu guardians with HOOKED ON A FEELING
