Darkseid is a physical manifestation of a sentient metaphor. A living concept. The Tiger Force at the center of all things. The very act of him dying started to collapse the DC multiverse.

Thanos is just a space mutant. Thanos is a Deviant Eternal, a race of off-shoot humanity that was granted super status by Celestial experiments and who sometimes have mutated monstrous babies. He's mortal and in fact WORSHIPS mortality and has died several times.


Darkseid is just not at all comparable to Thanos (despite Jim Starlin's early intentions)

Thanos was bumped in power level through augmentations of his own doing and, most importantly, changes made in him from his resurrection at the hands of the incarnation of Death.

It seems clear he is at the level of a Silver Surfer, himself a rather rare power level in the Marvel U, you really need to go to cosmic entities to find any being more powerful.

Its hard for me to pin down Darkseid's power level, DC has an issue with wanting him to be this all-powerful foe but they keep throwing him at Supes (and the League) where they are able to physically repel him. I'd want to say that Darkseid if written well would be more powerful than Thanos, albeit close, but the recent depictions of Darkseid make me think it'd be a lot closer than expected, if not going to Thanos in the end.

Whenever Darkseid faces a more powerful force, he is usually taken down pretty easily.
