The Punisher is a bad character, and it makes little sense that he hasn't been thrown in an insane asylum by one of the literal hundreds of moralfags of the Marvel Universe. Or that Punisher is still going after street level criminals when there's assholes trying to destroy cities out there who stand out in the open wearing bright outfits begging for a fight.

I also fully expect that if something interesting did happen where he fucked up and killed the wrong person or an innocent in the crossfire, the writers would go "lol it's ok he did some research and found out they had it coming after all!"

Punisher has been arrested and imprisoned alone before, and he gets out due to various reasons such as someone having a use for him or faking his capture. On top of that, the superheroes that object to his presence are the non-killing type to begin with, so they won't kill him and the ones that would kill don't mind him.
When Punisher goes up against most supervillains, he gets his ass kicked and doesn't get the shot unless they are absolutely irrelevant since he is just a really well trained guy with guns and killing them would render them unusable.
Finally, Punisher has a bunch of people who think he is the coolest shit in-universe because he is a normal guy fighting against crime in a shithole world, so even doing that won't stop copycat Punishers.
