Rigby and Mortecai are unrepentant douche-bags who are supposed to be endearing but aren't in any way shape or form, they do something stupid relating to late 80's/early 90's nostalgia instead of doing their job, Benson gets mad, reality gets torn open for no reason and then the episode ends.

I was always neutral when it came to this site's almost unanimous hate of the series, even though I enjoy it. I was pretty bummed though when it took until about the end of the day when people realized it's 6th year anniversary and then no one ended up caring anyway.

I'm slowly making my way through it still. I'm currently on Season 4, still enjoying it thoroughly.

Couldn't say the same about Adventure Time that deep in.

It was passable/same as it's been for a few seasons but the worst was right after they cut into The Power with Rigby stopping his line and turning to the wall, it wasn't even by comparison, his turning and his side profile was horrendous. They kept drawing characters off model, the ship near the end of Part 2 where it was flying up to the fists was blacked out, etc. The fact that it had the same animation budget as normal episodes and that CN turned down them making it an hour special but putting Cheer Up Pops with it so they could still market it as an hour special shows they were just being dicks.

Not to mention it's marketing stand point. Who's going to watch the finale when they don't know what's happening? When did they go to space? Who are these new characters? Why are they in a biodome? Kept seeing these questions in every thread because they never promoted the game changer eps. "Sometimes doing something different makes all the difference" "Uagh! I don't need a hug!" episodes aired on a Saturday at 12 PM with no marketing online or on TV, which ruined that bit, it's like "what were those scenes?"


And you can chalk up a limited budget depending on how expensive Bowie was, but animation budget and copyright music are in two separate categories sometimes, I'm not sure if that's the case with RS but it seems to have been before when they used presumably expensive songs and still had lively animation.

Also the bit with Pops hugging Anti Pops was animated by James fucking Baxter and still appeared jerky and with a weird frame rate that cartoons these days have an issue with. It's like they under paid him and he was like "I'll give it my 60%" because as smooth as his past work has been, it didn't even look like his work when Pops raised his arms, and the part with Anti growling with 3-part shading seemed kinda bad too. It can't be RS' artstyle because it was even on Pops' noodle arms, and the guy can animate different styles with different features.

Finishing my post, Space Escape had better animation than most of the finale, that episode also happened to be great in my opinion.

Oh, and them taking the episode order down by 10 episodes and making them rush the story they were doing, then making the crew members say shit in interviews like "we got to tell all the stories we wanted to tell" and "we're going out just the way we wanted" when after the finale was coming up/aired crew members started releasing info that episodes got cut because of the -10 ep order and the rush into the space season, that they didn't get to do a Techmo/Skips episode and that they didn't get to explore more of Death's home life, etc. The Lolliland stuff was supposed to be foreshadowed more before jumping into it but they couldn't figure out how to fit it in and decided to just make an episode setting up the season instead due to time constraints, which ended up being Pops' Planet or whatever the name was.

Of course, Networks making the crew seem like all is well isn't just a Regular Show thing, as the Harvey Beaks/Chowder creator explicitly said that Nick made him lie about something I can't remember right off, something to do with ToonBarn I think.

Glad I'm not in the industry, it sucks just from an outsider's view. I remember when it seemed fun to want to get a cartoon on the air, but I'm sure shit in the industry has always been bad, it's just getting worse, especially with CN's focus being tied up on Titans, Nick going to preschool hell, and Disney not sure what they want. Making an online series has it's own just as bad issues.

Damn it, aspect ratio fucked up and my video editing program has a few frames from after I cut the video file, but there's other stuff I forgot to mention in these big posts like quick and jerky scenes that go by so fast you can't really see what they were doing, backgrounds being the same after a skip to another area (happened during the montage of setting up the traps in part 1, and during the landing montage in part 3), etc. Kinda hurts my eyes watching some of it, because it was just so erratic.

The gray seems the same as the digital character model sheets backgrounds, I don't have a picture right off but there's easily found ones for Adventure Time. Guess it wasn't colored in, not sure if that's so much as a seasonal rot thing than it is a coloring error.

Very much yes. It's one of the best cartoons ever. Anyone who says it isn't is lying. It had good characters, interesting stories, emotional moments, excellent humor, etc. It was nearly perfect and consistent barring a couple episodes in it's sixth and eighth run. Jolly good show, best of the decade.

I think what they call shows like these is Sleeper Hits, they're critically acclaimed and are genuinely appreciated, but they aren't talked about much. Not here, not by the network, not by any other site.
