You HAVE been working on your art lately, right /co/? You won't improve without practice.
Post things you've made or are working on ITT, get some feedback.
I posted this on an art site and jokingly tagged it cat and mostly got notes from people with cat blogs.
Such is art life.
Does fan content stemming from /co/ webcomic discussion count? Because I've been working on that, trying to figure out the basics as I go.
>>92041526
Of course. The thread is pretty much "post shit you made you don't have an excuse to put in the Drawthread or Webcomic threads".
heres some gay thing.
i'm currently trying to build up a roster of animal characters but i don't really feel like doing ideations or w/e. i mean they're just animals with stubby legs. not really that hard to come up with idk
>>92041625
Ah, cool. I've been chipping away at a Critter Coven fancomic for the next /co thread, since I've finally got the urge to practice my drawing on my day off. I'm pretty behind on the art scene, admittedly, and I'm not even sure that practicing the style of a hard-outline shape-based webcomic isn't just procrastination of a different kind, but I feel pretty good just drawing.
That said, if anyone has critique, be brutal. I won't improve without perspective.
>>92041789
well actually scratch that.. i've been doing doodle pages occasionally. i guess that counts as concept stuff. im gonna try filling up my sketch book with pages like these for various characters
>>92041874
I was the one who drew that
I've been working on this character last two weeks. And she's a brand new OC of mine a cowgirl named Rudy Roundup.
>>92041917
Don't like the tangent under her nose.
Lines either too thick or that piece of hair just shouldn't be there.
Been doing some simple doodles of my characters a lot lately. This here's Diane.
>>92041789
Looks like the cover to a kids book
>>92042219
getting demony vibes. anything you can tell us about her?
nice expressions btw. i usually dont like lipstick on female characters, but the way its just on the bottom lip looks nice.
Decided to actually get some work done on something that's been collecting dust on my SSD for months.
Actually I paid foolgirl/dr.strangelove to draw this but the idea's all mine and from a story
The scene where Jacks, after realizing her travelling companion is extremely clingy, decides to get Gestal black out drunk so she can have a night on the town to herself.
Of course this backfires when the bear begs not to be left alone, leading into a drunken breakdown where she admits her guilt over breaking a mugger's leg and causing him to get frostbite, and how she inadvertently poisoned another man while also destroying his shop. Jacks has done far worse but the bear's sensitive and the least she could do is give her a "there there"
>>92042284
Thanks! Yeah, lipstick has always looked off to me unless it's only on the bottom lip. Both lips or top lip just looks strange to me in cartoons.
There's actually nothing demonic about her, I just thought her hair looked neat with little "horns" when it's not in a bun, to really contrast to shape of the hairstyles.
She's just an extremely sweet, loving, caring mother of 2, in a very, VERY happy marriage with her giant of a husband. But as nice as she is, she's also very emotional: Her protective nature of her family and friends comes with mental exhaustion and a short temper. As easy as she is to anger she's easy to calm; a kiss from her love, a hug from her family or friends, or just a nice tip at the diner she works at can easily lighten her mood.
She, her husband and her son have strong, cartoonishly Australian (or maybe more cockney?) accents, while her daughter (pic related) only developed some short-form speech patterns (not pronouncing the "g" in "ing." I.E. "pronouncin', endin' " etc.)
>>92042676
could have fooled anyone into thinking she was a demon lmao. she has all the features.
anyways dope stuff. got a gallery anywhere? would like to see some other stuff with them
It's a creature that I've been working on. Came to me as a whim and a desire to make a Chocobo like monster. I still can't give it a good name. Any ideas?
>>92042952
Yeah, she has a lot of nice and sharp features. Makes her all dainty lookin', but I guess it does give her a bit of a devious look too, huh?
I haven't done nearly as much with Diane as I'd like, but here's a link if you like: https://wwwjam.tumblr.com/tagged/diane
And just my art tag in general: https://wwwjam.tumblr.com/tagged/wwwjam

>>92041019
No because I can't seem to grasp the concepts of digital art down even though I've been doing it for years.
I'm still using Paint SAI like a poorfag, I tried pirating photoshop but I was overwhelmed with all the customization. I don't understand multiply layers, I don't understand brush settings, it's all so complicated and it's just another hurdle on top of mustering the motivation to draw in the first place.
>>92043151
Judging is what cats do.
>>92043790
Go trad.
My tablet has been having issues so I've been drawing traditionally.
I've also been watching a lot of Aqua Teen.

Drew some stuff for a d&d campaign.
>>92043790
seriously though, does anyone have any good tutorials on digital shit, particularly brushes and coloring?
i've been using the default shit in krita but no matter what everything always looks samey
i suspect it's my lineart but even when trying to focus on weigting it out it just doesn't work
i just wanna make funny little crayon/watercolor doodles like all the tumblr kiddies

I picked up my old bamboo fun about a month ago after completely ignoring and hating it for ~5 years. Then I checked out a few "ctrl paint" videos on YT and it sort of clicked.
Here's some stuff I've done since I picked it up.
Still very much a noob when it comes to digital drawing, tho. Only work with the most basic parts of the program when it comes to brushes, layer styles, and other cool photoshop effect shit.
Also worth mentioning that I've drawn quite a bit with traditional media, and have used photoshop for not-drawing for a few years..
>>92041887
Is that a fucking shoebill?
If so it would be the first cartoony shoebill i have ever seen
>>92044150
why not just study traditional painting? what difference does digital tutorials make? I think most digital paintings look dull.
>>92046204
While that's still a good idea the tools are different so it might require some different thinking in some specific areas when applying it to a digital surface.
>>92046204
Not having to literally watch paint dry?
There is viability to all sides of the craft.
>>92046198
you're not looking very hard then. i've seen tons of toony shoebill art. kinda of stupid to say, but it's kind of a memey bird that everyone suddenly fell in love with including myself. could be due to that one moeshit anime kemono friends which featured a humanized version of a shoebill
I haven't drawn in a while, and I haven't drawn on a regular basis in probably a year or more. I'm trying to get back into the swing of things though.
>>92046369
That's great!
If you feel up to it. Check out Loomis in the /ic/ sticky.
>>92046358
Oh well I dont watch anime, Im pretty sure there are not many of then in western media
I haven't drawn in years but I felt like getting back on it and drew this.
Only took like... half an hour.

Working on an Ed Edd and Eddy piece. I spent today cutting the face stencil for Ed, and double eyes and nose. Hopefully tomorrow I can get some spraying done.
Based her off of EbonyPornoand
a Jorōgumo from Japanese folklore. She's gonna be a villain in a comic I'm making. I didn't draw her btw.
>>92043061
Here is a better one from last year
>>92045236
I hate instagram for art.
>>92046314
nah, I mean just study basic techniques, instead of digital only ones. when I see an artist using the stamp tool in photoshop it's sort of pathetic.
>>92045203
>>92045185
Meh
I drew my waifu a few minutes ago, if that counts.
>>92046204
Convenience, all you need is a computer and a tablet.
With traditional paint you need canvases, different brushes, paint tubes, etc. and you have to be more painstaking about it, you can't easily do things like copy+paste or resize/transform. Making spontaneous changes to your work isn't always possible. Not to mention when you do fuck up you not only wasted time but also actual money considering stuff like acrylic costs like a gorrilion dollars a tube
I need to pad out my portfolio. Suggest some fun, interesting things for me to draw.

>>92048045
how?
>>92047931
I meant basics. sorry, traditional wasn't the right word. but getting a specific digital tutorial doesn't really make any sense. I've gotten digital painting books/tutorials and they're pretty unhelpful. they just say things like "make sure you use this brush well"

Most people don't know shit about Krita. Get Manga Studio or Photoshop. Piracy is easy. Hell Manga Studio goes on sale for as cheap as $15 at times.
Bringing back an old troll character of mine. Name's maddie. She likes fucking people and making people mad. Maybe at the same time if she can.
>>92055407
You wanna elaborate on why they're awful?
>>92042676
When it comes to lipstick for me, the bottom lip has the most lipstick while the top should just be a slightly thicker upper like with the lipstick color.
Unless you're exaggerating it for a bimboish character or a kanker sister style kiss. Then again I have a lipstick fetish so I probably pay attention to that stuff more.

I can't offer much critique but I can say I really like the style you're going for. Though something does feel a little off about the head in the colored piece. Like it jettisons out forward a bit too much, but that could just be me.
>>92055450
Ya got porn?
>>92050696
Would this be anything like the office? I like what I see so far, looking forward to more office cryptids.
>>92058362
Not. Yet.
So this is somewhat reminiscent of that shot from the Samurai Jack intro. Even though it's more of an atmospheric thing instead of a direct redo I'm not sure what else could be done with it outside of the longer animation it's going into. Making the rain a faster framerate would hurt the atmosphere I'm trying to build.

I joined a radio team and we talk comics so I made a poster for publicity
>>92055571
When it comes to painting skin it depends almost wholly on the style of the artist but both of those look sickly.
>>92050725
Telling anyone to use dodge and burn is a terrible idea. It's usable in situations but it's most often used by 12 year old weebs that don't know how to color mix.
>>92050729
This person with their 'mine is better' is full of shit. The original is better. Not great but that nasty grey pink is terrible. On it's own. It might work in a very specific lighting but there's no context to why they did it that way.
I didn't post any examples because OP seemed to be asking for brushes rather than color theory but I guess I'll post some for others.
I'm having a problem getting the website I have most of these kinds of things stored on to load so here's someone's painting process. I'll try later.
>>92060183
>>92050729
Not to mention in this one they say ONLY use pinks and reds which is completely false even in neutral lighting. There is blue in veins and in depiction of facial hair. There's yellows in the forehead.
This artist isn't the best but they get the point across.
>>92060396
>>92060183
So using their own pic as an example.
>work on your donuts.

I briefly considered it but that took more effort than I felt like putting into the OP.
>>92057765
I agree. Thanks for the fresh eyes anon. I'll see what I can do to fix it
