So I've been meaning to pick up Star vs but I've heard the first season starts off slow. I don't usually skip episodes in shows I watch, but does anyone have a recommended order to watch the show?
As in plot based episodes. If I like the show I'll go back and watch the episodes I skipped but I just want to quickly skim through the interesting part of the show.

Establishes the premise and introduces most of the core cast. Nobody likes Pony Head, but it's okay because she fucks off for the next twenty episodes.
>Match Maker / School Spirit
Not a lot happens in "Match Maker" but it introduces more setting elements and characters, most importantly Marco's crush on Jackie. "School Spirit" is also a school "filler" episode but it's generally considered pretty good anyway.
>Monster Arm
Another good episode, with stuff that will be important later. Also the first Marco-focused karate episode.

If you're hooked by this point, just keep watching and enjoy it. Even "filler" episodes progress with fleshing out the setting and getting to know the characters.

Absolutely none. The first episode is going to be fifteen minutes of Moon explaining to Star that shit has really hit the fan, getting the best care they can to revive the MHC, and sending out emissaries to rally any and all Mewnan allies for whatever Toffee may be plotting.

The last fifteen minutes will show Star being despondent, depressed, and isolating herself while the allied kingdoms arrive to court. Since she's not acting out and Moon's distracted, her mom's going to think she's finally matured, until River points out something is wrong, and they need to get "Star's boyfriend back from Earth". Moon will refuse since Marco's "just a human boy," but then Tom and Ponyhead will stick up for Marco, saying he can do good work. Moon will really put her foot down, but then Heckapoo will be the final one to say that Marco has proved himself time and again, and that Mewni is going to need all the help they can get.

And for the first time in the episode we see Star smile at the thought of seeing Marco again.

Yea, when I was younger, I used to think that people "deserve" other people.

The general Star-Marco friendship has been vaguely romantic the entire time. It would only take 3 episodes of development for Marco to get in a relationship with Star. No, Star's feelings didn't come out of nowhere.
Her crush on Marco was plainly stated ten episodes ago in "Sleepover" and arguably hinted at long before that.

If there hasn't been any foreshadowing or blatant statement of her interest in him before that, then yes, it would have been forced drama and the shock of the reveal would have spoiled the tragedy of the situation.
But it wasn't, and it didn't.

Not just autism, people also self diagnose themselves with clinical depression, social anxiety disorder, body dysmorphic disorder, ADHD, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and multiple personality disorder.

Usually these 'autistic' people are just saying it as a self-justification or excuse for their own shortcomings either social or otherwise. Don't have friends? It's okay, it's just because I have autism! Don't have a decent job? It's okay, it's just because I have autism! Still living with my parents at the age of 46? It's okay, It's because I have autism!

Some of them have deluded themselves into actually believing it, others know that they're full of shit but need an excuse to tell other people to make themselves feel better. However, either way, these people can be identified easily enough by their blatant refusal to ever go get tested for the condition they claim to have. Because even the ones who've deluded themselves know deep down that they don't actually have autism.

I expect they'll handle relationship stuff mostly like they did this season. It's something you know is part of the story in the background, but they're not going to force it into anything unless it's the focus of the episode.
They'll go back to being friends, and it won't get weird unless they get into some kind of intimate situation alone together.
Maybe Star will finally get her camping trip.
