I like YD. Bismuth and Smokey Quartz designs started out good in initial concepts but were SEVERELY worsened in iteration. But still were NOTHING compared to this hot mess.

Holly Blue was a great design. Fully realized Blue Diamond has some design problems, not living up to her role, but her design gets the point across.

I personally don't think SU is that crazy here. Threads can be really easily ignored. At most, you'll see 4 or something. Usually the crazy posters just stay in generals. The series and its fans have been criticized and ridiculed right from the start so to me they feel like they're restricted when it comes to freely posting in the board.

MLP was crazy back in the day. Personally, what rivals that craziness nowadays is liveaction cape movies. SU is nothing compared to it. Not every character has to be a waifu.

So far, every gem in the show has been designed to be sympathetic to the audience, even Jasper. Therefore, they've been given appealing, somewhat human-looking designs. These guys obviously look weird, and it's been confirmed that they're both complete nightmares to deal with - Aqua in particular is supposed to be an insufferable little shit. Their designs will most likely reflect the fact that they're intended to be less sympathetic to the audience thus they look more alien as a result.
