Wat? Anon, Jack's sword can in fact kill him. Aku's weakness is human righteousness, which is what the sword was made of. Aku explained in the Pilot episode that Jack's father was unaware of the fact that the sword had the ability to slay him permanently.

I think a part of Ashi's existence is to foreshadow Aku not dying, but instead having his evil vanished (she was bad and turned good). Jack will have to control his hatred against Aku and learn to forgive him.
