This anon >>92022498 is right. Really, most of the Godzilla films are worth checking out, if only for how ridiculous and cheesy some of them are. Heisei era movies were really good, though, and Giant Monsters All-Out Attack is great for making Godzilla a horrifying monster again.

Aside from that, Gamera's pretty good, and the Mothra films were decent as well. Worth checking out, in my opinion.

With shippers it's constant arguing back and forth, trying to justify which of their fantasies is the more "legitimate" one through wild extrapolations and misinterpretation of the canon show. I admit that can be fun sometimes, but by this point it's the same rehashed posts since there haven't been any new episodes.

With AUs it's more relaxed, because the fantasy is obviously illegitimate, so there's no need to argue. The only arguments are about which direction to take the AU, and we haven't even had many of those for Monstar. Just playful banter about whether she should be cuddled or bullied, no real animosity.

Well I mean, she's already been getting some development
She went from being just slightly quirky and good-naturedly smug (got ya house keys) in her first appearance to canonically being a delinquent who's constantly in detention, tries to cause bodily harm to others for fun, keeps star from helping Marco when he suddenly keels over screaming in pain because it's "interesting", repeatedly breaks the law through severely invading Marco's privacy and keeps making creepy comments at him. Her main characterization is still "smug scoundrel stalker", same as ever, but she just got way more extreme.

Let's see what the crew has in store for her in season 3. My guess it's she'll become even more extra

Nah, Jackie will blatantly become the pastel-haired mermaid princess from her doodles, because she likes the idea of a cool mermaid princess and wants one in her show.

Look at Tom, his design with the horns and 3 eyes is straight from Nefcy's old art, and she slapped her childhood dreamboat actor crush as his voice because she can. Ponyhead is there because a disembodied flying magical horse head princess is probably also something that's been featuring in her imagination for a long time. She does what she wants. There's canonically already a Waterfolk kingdom and mermaids, and you bet your ass we're gonna see a mermaid princess at some point because mermaid princess, bitch, how cool.

Making Jackie the aforementioned mermaid princess kills 2 birds with one stone. Instead of having to leave the dream girl crush character on Earth undeveloped and needing to introduce a new princess and not have a lot of time for their development either, slap them into one. More characterization, smaller cast, bonus sweet ass plot twist, it's perfect

I like Janna, I do, she's funny at least, but I think she's more of a collection of quirky tropes than an actual personality, at least right now.

The only two times I can think of her actually having a personality are in Bon Bon when she's upset how Star cares more about Marco than hanging out with her, and in Sleepover when she's self-concious about liking the colour pink.

I think this is something the writers could do some really interesting stuff with if they're self-aware enough. The way I see it, Janna is really self-conscious and has identity issues, and self-casts herself as this quirky person for attention. Maybe they'll make a point of this for her realising that she doesn't need to do that to have meaningful connections with her friends.

Think of it like that episode of the Simpsons where Bart gets into playing the part of the class clown, but then becomes deeply uncomfortable when he realises that's all other people see him as and he feels more like an actor than an actual person. It doesn't mean that Janna isn't into the occult and all that weird stuff, but I think she definitely hides herself behind that because she doesn't think she's interesting enough otherwise.

Yeah, I agree with that, it seems like she's a bit of a poser who's trying to put up this edgy dark cool and blase façade, liking black and skeletons and death and all that, in reality loving pink and probably frilly things but not having the guts to admit that because it's not cool enough.

However, it's her smug troublemaker character that made the crew like her, and the more they used her the more extra they kept making her, so I think that edge will always be a part of her. I get the feeling she wasn't going to be quite a bg character along the lines of Sabrina or Chantal, but probably closer to Britney or Alfonzo/Ferg levels of importance initially. But obviously yeah she's definitely more of an important character now (and even moreso in S3) than she was originally envisioned to be, so she's kinda hamstrung by the few quirky tropes that were meant to define her initially.

Yeah, and also I doubt they want to start rewriting her in to a different character or anything like that. On one hand it'd be nice to have more sides and depth, but on the other the main point of her charm is how over the top "horrible" she is, so starting to sort of water her down might backfire.
