Some of Moore's independent stuff is really well composed, and he has a pretty thorough grasp of the medium that he works with. Although I've never read it, I've heard his novel Jerusalem is really complex in structure. I enjoyed playing where's Waldo with the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, and that got me really into the social context of older literature.

Jerusalem is intricate as fuck. It's not necessarily as "out there" as Providence (at least in the first third) but the detail and density of information is insane. Definitely not a book for the faint of heart.

Moore's style of writing involves paraphrasing conspiracy theories while two characters walk from point a to b to c and all these points are bottom tier symbolism (he instructs artists to illustrate his 'points'). It's postmodernism / solipsism 101.
