I really, really like these three pages, because the whole "empty yourself and remove all worldly concerns to be a better fighter" tends to be seen as an undesirable or even straight-up evil thing in most works that try to ape martial arts philosophy. There tends to be more value put into attachment and worry and fighting for X or Y. But here, emptying yourself is presented as something that can be returned from, which always struck me as a really good compromise, and one that fits very well with Snake-Eyes' background as a war veteran.

It's weird since I don't really consider myself a particularly big G.I. Joe fan, as I don't even own any figures, etc. I've just been a fan of the comic since the early 90s. Never even watched the cartoons.

He fought in Vietnam, studies several martial arts, came up with the concept and wrote the bulk of the Marvel GI Joe series, had a great run on Wolverine, created Bucky O'Hare in addition to all the other writing an editing he's done for both Marvel and DC.
