Which is going to be a bigger "highly anticipated" game that's hype is tainted by the current states of their companies involved's current state; MVCI or Kingdom Hearts 3?

On one hand, KH3 is hold the climax to the series main storyline hostage to force you to play rather you want to or not, but is going to drag you through worlds based on films you don't give a shit about , as well as shove FF characters like Lightning and Noctis in your face, while worlds based on older films and FF cameos you do want are thrown in the trash or overpriced and half-assed DLC.

Meanwhile MVCI is going to have a shit roster of MCU pandering everywhere and probably such "beloved" Capcom characters like newcomers from Street Fighter V, Donte and the chick with the ass from Remember Me but isn't holding a series storyline hostage.

My man, you must not know a lot of the behind the scenes history of these games.

2's only literally who addition was Marrow. And thats because Marvel demanded they put her in because they thought she was going to be the next Wolverine. If you're talking about characters like Spiral or Blackheart, they were ported over from previous games.

3's LW would be X-23, who Marvel was trying to push with a new series, Rocket & Nova, who were demanded by Marvel because they were gearing up for the GotG movie at a time when Nova was still in the script and Super Skrull, because Marvel told Capcom if you can't get all 4 Fantastic Four playable, you have to do that as a compromise.

Modok is the only real fanservice addition to the game and Seth Killian implied they fought for it because Capcom felt a mix of famous with obscure characters is for the best.

I find it hard to believe there won't be any obscure characters because if this really is a giant MCU fanservice game... well they have a Phase 4 don't they? They'll want to start awareness of some new characters now. I wouldn't be surprised if Songbird gets in thanks to that rumored Thunderbolts movie.

That's just how hyper fighters work and they're not going to change that as it'd risk losing their preexisting fanbase.
Fighting games, more than just about any other genre that comes to mind, put a lot of hurdles in the way of the player which limit their appeal to a very small dedicate niche that's willing to put up with the chore of gaining competency only to be nickle and dimed for an update eighteen months later that changes everything and forces them to do it all over again, and will vehemently insist that the problem isn't how the genre is set up but rather that casuals just need to spend their hours in training mode and git gud.

About the only thing that's not selling me is the lack of assists. It's just not Mahvel without them and you lose a lot of gameplay elements by taking out assists.

That's pretty overstated. Only Mahvel's first few years were like that. Plenty of other high-end players gained a lot of mileage from other teams. I'd say high-level UMvC3 play was pretty damn diverse as far as roster choices go, actually. Doom as an assist and a character, along with Zero/Dante/Vergil were pretty OP though.

If Marvel had any kind of updates it would have been better. There were quite a few comps that saw play Chris G, Jwong, PChamp, just to name a few all played different comps and did very well for themselves at times. Zero may cry obviously was the best and made bad players better but it wasnt impossible. If Vergil and Zero had gotten a small nerf itd have opened the game up some.
