Anyone in here has this entirety of the Moxy Show on their hard drive by any chance? I was only able to find the very first episode (plus a few tidbits squeezed on it) on MySpleen.

For a bit more of context: It was technically Cartoon Network's very first original production.

Cartoon Network. It was actually their first original production ever, so to speak. I say technically because it was really just an overglorified programming block from what I can tell.

http://cartoonnetwork.wikia.com/wiki/The_Moxy_Show

Also it never got an official release on DVD, and apparently not many people bothered to tape it, not even the producers, hence the quasi-status as lost media.

Myself, I'm interested in any Cartoon Network recordings from 1998 or 1999, along with recordings of their Fridays block from late 2003 and 2004. They seem to be less common than any other CN commercial video on YouTube, to the point where only the promos are currently online for the early Fridays blocks.
>>
>>91999513
Captain, I have a question. Since you grew up with the 2007-2009 era of CN, does it pain you to see the majority of others saying "that was the worst time for CN"?
>>
>>91999667
2007 was actually one of my favorite years for the channel, and one I was really nostalgic for - the only things I particularly hated that year were replacing Fridays with Fried Dynamite and introducing Out of Jimmy's Head as CN's first live action original series. Heck, I didn't even mind TOM4 as much as most people did.

2008 and 2009 were awful in comparison. The bumpers were bland, there started to be less and less of a variety in the schedule, and 2009 was the beginning of the infamous CN Real stunt that gave CN an entire weeknight of live action programming. Things started to look up around 2010 with the introductions of Adventure Time and Regular Show, and I started to watch the channel regularly again in 2012 because of the revivals of Toonami and Cartoon Planet. While I'm frustrated with TTG playing on the channel way more than it needs to, I think it's much better than in 2009 when we had live action shows on a "cartoon" network. At least TTG is animated.
>>
>>91997958
I don't have the *entirety* of The Moxy Show recorded, but one of my friends does have a tape containing about 4 or 5 episodes that aired really late at night without promotion in 1998. I haven't gotten an update about the tape in a while, but if I'm able to get it, I'll share them in a MEGA link here and upload the bumpers to YouTube. Trust me, I was really excited about this find too.
>>
>>91999857
I look forward to the tape, anon. Thanks for letting us know!

That CNArchive wasn't an hour long, it was about 20 minutes long. And it wasn't uploaded on his CNArchive channel, but his alt-channel, Cartoonothing. It was titled "Random Cartoon Network promos & bumpers (2004-06)"

And yes, it did have some stuff we don't have. It had a Teen Titans: Trouble in Tokyo premiere promo on Fridays, a Bloo beatboxing music video, a CN 2004 presidential election video, some rare Now/Then bumpers, a behind the scenes feature of Class of 3000, and some more. I'm pissed he decided to privatize it.

Contrary to popular belief, CN didn't stop the City era in 2007 because it was getting too expensive.

According to Geoff, they stopped it because they just wanted to try something different. But as the replacement(Fall is just something that grown-ups invented) showed, different isn't necessarily better.

Not sure if this is the right place to ask but, Im looking for an old music video/ bummper from Cartoon network. What I do remember from it was a Gorilla weraring a crown tells a story about a guy who is on a ship peeling potatoes and is to marry a lady gorilla...I know it's all random but I'm trying to find out if it wasn't some odd fever dream or not.
>>
>>92010952
Oh god, I loved those. Fuck CN for not sticking with them.

>>92008838

I'm looking for an obscure Disney Cartoon from the 90's, or rather a handful of episodes of it. The Lost Media Wiki says it's missing four episodes and I've binged on pretty much all of them and the game.

Sadly, I'm not sure if anyone has recordings of it. Hopefully someone does.
>>
>>92024883
It's weird. CN has aired approx 219000 hours in their 25 years of existence, and while some of it has been recorded and preserved via the Internet, due to the rules of chance and probability, someone never bothered to record much of it, thus there are hours of CN content that are lost forever and ever.

It's like having a needle trapped in not a haystack, but a black hole.
>>
>>92025031
Let's just say there's a reason I've been recording CN more and more this year. Starting last September, I recorded every Toonami block. I also
recorded all of April Fools Day, including the AS shows with glitched audio, the CN googly eyes, and the surprise Rick & Morty Season 3 premiere (with all the different promos during commercial breaks.)
>>
>>92020496

The winner was Yam Roll, probably because it required the least amount of effort to make into a show.
>>
>>92025031
Yeah, I would love it if someone out there has a ton of recordings of CN, because it would fucking suck if all that content is just lost to the sands of time.

Thanks dude, I just watched the first one, it was cool having some class Space Ghost C2C with the old ads and bumps
>>
>>92027235
There is, but it's always nice to have more. I might work into uploading the commercial spots to MySpleen, considering that they have literally 0 of Locomotion stuff in there.
>>
>>92027857
I have read it a few time in this thread, what is "Myspleen"?
>>
>>92027975
It's a tracker that has all the animation stuff anyone would ever need (unless you're looking for any of this stuff)

the Lost Media Wiki has a discord, if you ask the owner Dycaite, he'll probably give you a free invite
>>
>>92028189
Thanks for the tip.
>>
>>92028250
Just a reminder that MySpleen, as with any other torrenting sites, work on a ratio system. For everything you download, you have to upload alot as well.

I reccommend getting freeleech stuff to start out.
>>
>>92028267
I already asked about this on the thread, and it's a question probably better suited for /tv/, but would anyone know of another tracker site similar to MySpleen (vhs recording and rarities) but geared towards movies and tv shows?
>>
>>92029405
I couldn't think of any, try asking /ptg/.
>>
>>92029473
ill try there but they seem very uptight and unreliable.

Nice.

What always fascinates me with these is the little technical details. Stuff like channel idents, picture quality and colouring*, the GUI of the television (like the kind of box used to say what program is on and such.)

Is there anywhere for watching old VHS tapes more widely? TV news in particular fascinates me.
>tfw no full copy of the BBC's Iraq War coverage to stripmine for entertainment.

I've got a bunch of MySpleen invites that I'm handing out.

Also, for anyone who wants easy ratio, everyone jump on the gigantic Game Center CX torrent. If enough people leech it at once (it's freeleech), you'll get a shitton of ratio just by sending data between each other (it's only got one seeder and a 9x multiplier on upload, so a shitton of leechers can get a LOT of ratio off it).
>>
>>91999748
My opinions exactly.
>>
>>92042646
Yo can I get an invite?

>>
>>92042920
It's sent.
>>
>>92043031
Thanks!
>>
>>92042646
This is pretty much the only reasonable way to get ratio on MySpleen if you don't make your own torrents. The site does Freeleech so damn often that every torrent has a disproportionate amount of seeders.
>>
>>92043132
In retrospect, torrents fuck with my IP address. So I don't know how I'll pull this off.
>>
>>92042646
>freeleech
> 9x multiplier on upload
Why is this torrent so favored? And the one I see has 2.8x
>>
>>92043590
https://www.myspleen.org/details.php?id=6722

It's old. The problem is just getting enough leechers trying to download it at once to take advantage of the ratio.

Hey Latin American bros, anyone has the Fox Kids Digimon Tamers bumper where Ruki says something to the guys who find out who she is? She says something about underwear or something, to be honest, I never fully saw it as back then Fox Kids was scrambled.

Since we're mostly talking about old-school CN in this thread, I'd like to post a nerdy piece of autistic overlong trivia that some may appreciate.

I'm sure many 90s CN fans have wondered why Cartoon Network stopped titling their original series "Cartoon Cartoons" in 2003. Well, there's an explanation. What's the one thing almost ALL Cartoon Cartoons have in common? Those either started off on What a Cartoon/The Cartoon Cartoon Show, or one of the Big Picks. Those were voted by kids who liked the shorts and whichever ones won were turned into a series. Ed, Edd n Eddy was the only popular one that wasn't based on a WAC short, it was Canadian. The Cartoon Cartoon brand name was dropped after Codename: Kids Next Door premiered in late 2002 since that was the last cartoon to be greenlit based on voting results from kids.

Another point to keep in mind is that all the Cartoon Cartoons started off as animated by Hanna-Barbera then they transferred over to digital animation when H-B was deprecated. Even the pilots of Billy & Mandy and Kids Next Door were animated by Hanna-Barbera as well. All of these Cartoon Cartoons had similar retro 60s-esque animation and style, because they were all done by Hanna-Barbera.

By 2003/2004 there was no point of calling the shows "Cartoon Cartoons" anymore because they were just picked up by the network itself and the animation styles had changed. Shows like Ben 10, Squirrel Boy, Foster’s Home, Hi Hi Puffy amiyumi, and Class of 3000 had no business being under the Cartoon Cartoon name since those were simply CN original series made from scratch with no Hanna-Barbera connection.

Sorry bro, I didn't have cable at that time, those were dark times.
>>
>>92043789
I have a very vague memory of the bumper in question (those were very weird but very fun times) and I believe it might've been for the Brasil edition of the Fox Kids channel? Either way, MySpleen unfortunately doesn't quite have much of Fox Kids material just yet. I assume you already tried searching it up on YouTube?
>>
>>92045150

I reckon that archive.org has quite a lot in the department of VHS rips, but whether those are geared towards cartoon channels/programming blocks is another story.
>>
I find it funny to think that so much that I myself have seen 10 or 15 years ago is lost to the time. One would think that with so many people watching everything would be recorded.
>>
>>92053061
Its the same flawed logic as the "nothing is deleted from the internet". People assure themselves that nothing is forgotten because *somebody else* will take it upon themselves to save it for them.

But if everyone thinks that way then it isn't true. I try to find old flash cartoons from the early 2000s only to find the site it was hosted on is gone and the creator deleted the original files to save space. If you don't save things yourself then it might as well be forgotten forever.
>>
>>92053736
That's true, it's a shame I didn't know that at that time.
>>
>>92053827
Yeah neither did I. But now people realize this and I've seen a few random forums of people who buy huge amounts of hard drives and other storage devices in bulk just to save as much stuff as possible. Hell, there are people trying to make torrents for every single piece of fiction ever written. Its amazing how frequently a random book gets printed for only one year and 30 years later people discover its a good book also to discover most copies have been casually destroyed over time. I'm really annoyed I lost a good chunk of my digitized book collection in a hard drive failure.
>>
>>92053909
This makes me remember the fact that something like Doctor Who still have some chapters missing. At least we now know from experience and in the future it will be less common to find out that some fiction has gone missing.
>>
>>92054080
Yeah there must have been some sort of tape shortage or something and the BBC decided to scrap tons of their old shows. The only reason Monty Python is still around today is because someone stole all the originals and hid them in their attic for years.
>>
Does any of you latinoamerican bros have a recording of the Jim Button Spanish dub? The girl on that show was my first waifu so I would like to watch it complete. It is a shame that I've been unable to find it even in english.
>>
This is some really cool stuff.
What makes you guys interested in some of the VHS tapes though? Just nostalgia, or potentially finding lost material too?
>>
>>92054451
https://kimcartoon.me/Cartoon/Jim-Button

This show?
>>
>>92054612
Yeah, thanks, it might not be the Spanish dub but I'll still watch it anyways.
>>
>>92042646
Eh, why not? I like Game Center CX too, so it's a win-win situation here.

[email protected]
>>
>>92054552
Pretty much both.
>>
>>92054767
There you go. We've actually got at least two people leeching it now, so people are getting upload from it. Jump on it while you can.
>>
>>92054451
Jesus I had forgotten about this show for 15 straight years until you brought it up, even thought it's peculiar art style and characters stuck with me for a few years. I think the chick you mentioned might've also been my first waifu as well.

Now it is my personal duty to track down whatever Latin American stuff from Fox Kids/Jetix is out there, cuz the latent memories in my cerebral hippocampus are overwhelming.

>>92054552
Quite a lot of reasons, although nostalgia + tracking down lost stuff for documentation purposes are the biggest two. I certainly get a kick out of watching movies and shows interspersed with local commercials and bumpers from one era.
>>
>>92057188
Godspeed my latino friend, there is so much lost when it comes to spanish dubs and I haven't seen putting effort to search for it.
>>
>>92020858
>The tape with Ren and Stimpy has the first airing of Road Apples
>It's unedited
Godspeed.
>>
>>92054552
Both.

They're interesting cultural artifacts too.
>>
Does anyone have a high quality version of Road Rash from Rocko's Modern Life with the deleted scene intact?
>>
>>92057352
Actually the Fox Kids I watched as a kid was the one from Brazil, but I'd assume much if not all of it's content was interchangeable with the rest of the Latin American continent/market, dub languages aside.
>>
>>92058458
Yeah, I think that you are right.
