I think Star had a small crush (similar to Oskar) by the end of S1/beginning of S2.

The reason I say this is because it's pretty likely the diary said something along the lines of "wow Marco is cute I have a small crush on him" since whatever the hell was in the "my thoughts on Marco" section was important enough (to not be read by Marco) that Star dipped down for the 2nd time. Star's only dipped down in cases of what she perceives to be utmost importance-Storm the Castle to save Marco's life, to reach through the All Seeing Eye and get Glossaryck....and when Marco was about to read her thoughts on him in her diary.

But I think Star dismissed those feelings as a temporary silly crush "he's my roommate" (she says this to the guidance counselor while simultaneously not saying "I don't have a crush on him") when in reality those feelings still persisted and grew through the second season (in Camping Trip, Star doesn't have any negative response to River calling Marco her boyfriend). Of course, those feelings were still under the surface/not noticed by Star (in Sleepover, Star was not actually intentionally lying when she said Oskar was her crush, which is what the cube hinted at in the beginning when it explained the rules about what a truth is)

Yes.

Magical girl from another dimension is sent to Earth to learn to better control her magic after inheriting her family's magic wand. Stays with a boy her age, they fight monsters and go to other dimensions and stuff as Star learns more about her magic ability and her kingdom and family's history.

Starts off okay but a bit weak, and episodic but with background continuity. In the middle of the season a plot begins that continues up to the latest episode in some form or another. There are always lighter episodes but from that point on there's a definite sense of progression.

Season 2 goes really heavy on the deep lore and character development, and overall is better written and does a better job with plot stuff than 1.

If you watch, keep in mind that different people no longer on the show had tighter control on the first season and seemed to want it to be a comedy above everything. The 8th episode (or 16th segment) is when a plot begins, and is the point that most fans would agree the show as it is now really begins. Earlier episodes are still necessary though to really get a sense of the world and characters, if you decide to watch.

Jackie wasn't really in the S1/S2 intro either, she just had cameos in two places:
1) She quickly skateboards across the screen when they're running through a hallway in school (which is gone because everything after the first few seconds of the S3 intro takes place off-planet)
2) In the final scene where the entire cast is on screen (which is also gone from the S3 intro, replaced with a shot of what looks to be a fighting squad against Ludo/Toffee).

What it means is that
1) Jackie probably won't participate in off-planet adventures (at least to the extent of other side characters like Janna).
2) Jackie probably won't be helping Star and Marco against Ludo/Toffee.

I don't take that as her being gone completely. But she won't get many appearances, as on-Earth episodes will probably be far and few between.

There's also the question of how they'll write Jackie's breakup with Marco. It's going to happen because this is Disney, so Starco ending is practically a given (at the very least, Star and Marco will date at some point, even if they don't end up together in the long-term).

Jackie's practically perfect (another example of bad writing), so my guess is they'll have some scenes where Jackie realizes Marco is a shitty boyfriend/can't make time for a relationship, and Jackie will eventually breakup with Marco.

Now before you say "well anon maybe they will include her background story in season 3, she can be some warrior girl from a race of warrior fighters and etc..." That's just feel so out of place cuz if you look at this character you would think shes some braniac in the group that teaches them stuff and warns them on the many evil in the lands they venture. Like a healer or some mage, but then we will have like 4 people being mages.

Hell i'll be pissed if they would rip Marco's swordsman/fighter title away from him and make him only a fighter. This dude spend 30 years in a dimension and learn awesome sword skills for him to forget. I want running with a scissors to mean something instead of a new dimensional scissor. They keep hinting swords with Marco even his password is o=={==>SWORD.
