Who needs that tryhard bullshit? Why did the asians invent such a prentious way to prepare tea?
>>91976791
The most important think is so called tips (bubbles of tea on a surface, the more the better) to appear.

We were truly balanced then
>>91976791
No. But there is no need to. Jack's first mistake was to climb the goat tower.
You can never climb the goat tower lest great evil befalls you.
Thus I shall hone my sword in peace and watch the majestic goats from a distance.

What about this goat tower?

Isolationism is a hell of a drug

Since when is omniscience a sign of immaturity?
>>91977680
Because nobody is omniscient so you have to be immature if you think you are.
>>91977680
It's more like "he think he knows it all" these people are annoying and the truth is, they don't really know it all, there is a lot of stuff they don't know.

The classic Japanese tea ceremony stems from the Edo-era nobility.
Under the Tokugawa shogunate you had obligatory alternating residence at your family holdings and in the capital to prevent the nobles from getting too distant from the central powers which had led to earlier governments falling apart.
Most modern Japanese high culture was formed in this clout of mostly bored nobles forced to attend court with little obligations to take up their day.
They basically needed hobbies and with them all being so close they basically got pretentious about it in order to humble-brag to one another till it became accepted that such was the proper way to go about things, since peasants always tended to immitate noble customs as a way to move up in society.
In this time and climate you see the origins of many foods such as sushi that require great craftsmanship and haste because you could cater to nobility and upstart tradesmen with money that all gathered around the shogunate in that one town turned metropolis that is Tokyo today.
That's where they went and turned simple gardening into bonsai cutting, tea making into an hour-long procedure and poetry into a party game. Which went like so: You go lazing about together and when one of you has thought of a new haiku, they recite it and get to drink a cup of sake. Which makes the poetry progressively harder and less safe for work as the day goes on. They used to be a lot more relaxed with their sexuality before they had Victorian prudery forced on them at gun point. Or gun-boat point, really.

Wasn't a comfy teashop though, it was like a British chain of teashops that sold leaves and bags n shit. I was resident tea expert so I spent most of my time doing asters and talking about tea to customers.

This is ridiculously interesting and is making me want to play Way of the Samurai again. Wish there was a samurai vidya that went more in depth on the culture and customs.
