Yeah but the cartoon was aimed toward a younger public and toned down the references.

The french edition of Pratchett works did this well. They knew some jokes would be lost by default so, instead of tryharding and pushing things that make no sense, the translator always added one joke (in the same tone of the original work) for every one he had to drop. The result is pretty good.

Of course everytime a comic is marketted toward adults, even if it's an action or drama one, there is chance that it would contain a sex scene, just like most movies. It's a dumb trope but oh well. As long as it doesn't get cancerous it's fine.
Orbital for exemple is an adult themed space opera serie and i do not recall a sex scene at all.

I used to have the full translation somewhere, but I can't find it anymore. I don't remember any obscure references, so they might have replaced them (or maybe I just didn't get them), but it was probably an Archie tier comic. Not bad, but not great either.
