too many lazy meme quality jokes too close to each other. Could have cut out 30% of them and the ones left would be better appreciated and funnier, making a better movie

The script.
Writers forgot that you need something between the disruptive element: "Hi, I'm your father. Come to my planet with me." and the element that starts the big battle and leads to the conclusion: "Hi, I'm your father and I want to conquer the universe."

What happens in between is linked to the characters but doesn't advance the main plot. So you end up waiting for something to happen during a big part of the movie even though "others things" are happening.

Oh, and the quips. I usually don't mind them and even enjoy them, but turning everything into quips is a problem. Especially in a few instances where it kills a more appropriate dramatic tone (characters development).
