MonStar has an extremely deep fear of conflict because of all the abuse throughout her life. Combined with her extremely low self-esteem this means she never stands up to bullies and takes all of their abuse while believing she deserves it.

Of course she has the power(both physically and magically) to do something about it but because she's such a broken person she never will. Ever. Season one did a good job setting up the characters. The fact that it went to extremely noticeable Flash animation midway through the first season's run was difficult to handle, but the fluidity of the final episode that season more than made up for it.

Season two shines because of FUCKING PLOT, as well as actual character development that was previously happening at a snail's pace. Plus, it seems like Eden Sher finally got comfortable in the role of Star, so it's no longer awkward hearing her deliver her lines like it previously was. In fact, I can't imagine Star's voice being anything different than a twenty-something Jewish girl's.

early season 1's animation helped cancel out some of the more generic plots, late season 1's plots canceled out the shit animation. season 2's strength is now finally the actual writing.

I've never really had a problem with eden sher. I do think there were some awkward deliveries in early s1 but that may be more weak writing causing that than anything. star wouldn't have worked for me with a higher voice

season 2 is really impressive. it's pretty much "how can we fix everything wrong with 1"
