I'm an optimist. I have to be, I'm from England . I've seen shows build up pace quickly for 2 seasons, go absolutely nowhere with it, continue building up pace for another 4, and drive off the cliff edge because the writers had no idea what they were doing.

I'm willing to wait to see if it's a slow burner with an explosive last season. That's how most anime of the genre this show keeps referencing end up.

So, I have a question about Lion 4:

How did Rose arrange it that the tape for Nora ended up in the junkyard and the tape for Steven ended up in Lion, each tape where it belonged?

Did she put them there herself, when she realized what sex the baby she was carrying was? That doesn't seem right to me, because in the tape itself she's already visibly far along in her pregnancy, later than most ultrasounds would be positively identifying sex, and still doesn't know then, as demonstrated from the fact she made both tapes around that time.

Did she arrange for somebody else to put the tapes these places after Steven was born? She couldn't have put them there herself after Steven was born and pronounced a boy because she and Steven can't exist at the same time. She didn't have the gems do it because they didn't know about Lion.

So, did Lion put the tapes away himself? Can he insert things into his own mane like that?

I didn't watch it. The leak quality is abysmal and most people said it wasn't even any good. What kind of junkie do you have to be to watch that shit?

It sucks because I agree. I think the pilot is one of the more unique shorts I've seen for a kids cartoon and the final product is like watching a Nintendo fan animation where someone was heavily inspired by Animal Crossing.

She's the kind of artist who grew up adoring 90's anime and Golden age cartoons where you can often tell who worked on what scene/shot if they had a distinctive enough style.

Difference is more than half the artists she hired are not skilled enough to pull off such a thing. Lamar's "style" is nothing to write home about and actually takes away from the final product. Artists like Raven actually do it effectively.

The DIamonds still keep the mystery going a bit (assuming they will even get to fully explain pink diamond). there are some more consistent characters I like such as Jasper, Sadie,Lars, Connie, and still even Garnet. although Garnet was not on point with that Ruby getting the ship, like its highly likely she'll return to homeworld, but she just replied it was worth a try. you could say Steven universe is facing seasonal rot, and the collaborative storybording leads to the characters deviating / plotholes. the show is still salvageable though, but season 5 will tell how it will last.

How have the last couple episodes been different than the show in general? It was always hit and miss.

I remember when the show first aired people were calling episodes like Onion trade, Togetherness breakfast, House guest shit, And that never stopped.

Honestly I think I'm growing out of cartoons. They don't do anything for me anymore. Even the new Samurai jack, which is heralded as the saving grace of animation was just ok for me. It was good but not amazing. Star vs is another show people worship here, but I watched like 10 episodes of it and it was completely unappealing to me.

I used to like SU a lot, I'd defend it to death but that was when I was younger and less cynical. Now I see that the show has always been simplistic and written for children, covering the most basic themes about peace and love.

I think I still like the show somewhat I feel only because I've invested myself in it and I enjoyed the last bomb. But at this point I'm just waiting for it to end.

The main problem with the show is that it has no direction. S1 had a SOL style that eventually developed into a narrative that culminated in the S1 finale. The following seasons don't seem to have an end goal, or at least take forever to reach it which leaves us wading through endless crying and revisiting the same old issues and characters over and over again. It certainly doesn't help that I've come to hate all the main characters except for Amethyst who have all been either flanderized or left with character traits and narratives that make me want to punch out every single one of them. All in all, it feels like the type of show that went on long after it's scheduled finale yet never actually got to the juicy climax of the story. Nothing about SU is lazy. You can say it's flawed, but it's certainly not lazy.
